Twenty-one years after its release on this very day, December 19, 2003, it continues to resonate in our hearts. The popular movie “Munna Bhai MBBS,” starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, is celebrating its 21st anniversary since its release on December 19, 2003. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, this comedy classic has now reached an impressive landmark. As we commemorate this achievement, we’re sharing some exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from the film set.
The Sanjay Dutt-starring movie Munna Bhai MBBS is one of Bollywood’s highly esteemed cult classics. Directed by the talented Rajkumar Hirani, this film boasts the expertise of cinematographer Binod Pradhan. In these shots, he masterfully captures the most impactful frames for the movie.

Under Sanjay Dutt’s leadership, I found myself part of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., where actors like Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Sunil Dutt, Gracy Singh, and others played significant roles. This film centered around a local don named Murli Prasad Sharma, who, in an attempt to honor his father, assumed the role of a doctor. However, things took a dramatic turn when Dr. Asthana, the dean at the Medical institute, exposed his false identity before his father.
The movie, known for its clever one-liners, received four esteemed National Film Awards, among them the award for Best Popular Film offering enjoyable entertainment. Subsequently, a sequel titled “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” was launched in 2006.
Last year, during an exclusive conversation with us, Rajkumar Hirani shared his intention to bring back Munna Bhai 3. He made it clear that he’s keen on the project, but only if it’s something worthwhile and not just for the sake of making another Munna Bhai movie.
He mentioned that he’s having trouble developing a script, but he has an excellent concept in mind. Though the idea is fantastic, it needs more detail and refinement. Naturally, he expressed confidence that we’ll bring this idea to life at some point.
