The Weeknd’s ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ Movie Set for Spring 2025 Release

As a dedicated fan who has followed The Weeknd’s meteoric rise from pop sensation to multi-hyphenate powerhouse, I can hardly contain my excitement for his upcoming feature film debut, “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” Trey Edward Shults, known for his gripping coming-of-age dramas and psychological horror flicks, is at the helm of this musically driven psychological thriller. The star-studded cast, featuring The Weeknd himself, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan, promises an electrifying ride that will undoubtedly blur the lines between reality and fiction.

Lionsgate has scheduled the premiere of “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” the debut movie by pop sensation The Weeknd, for a release in North America on May 16, 2025.

Trey Edward Shults, renowned for movies like “Waves” and “It Comes At Night,” is at the helm of a movie described as a “musically intense psychological thriller.” This film is co-produced by Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, along with his independent production company, Manic Phase.

Tomorrow’s highly anticipated film titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow” features The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan. This movie is not only exciting due to its release but also because it ties in with the upcoming album and tour of the same name by The Weeknd. The forthcoming album, slated for a Jan. 24 debut, marks the concluding part of The Weeknd’s trilogy following his 2022 album “Dawn FM” and his 2020 release “After Hours.

On January 25th, The Weeknd is scheduled for a unique, one-time performance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Lionsgate anticipates that fans of the popular singer will flock to cinemas to watch the film “Hurry Up Tomorrow” and notice connections between his album and concert acts.

The pop star recently became the first artist in history to have 22 songs with over 1 billion streams each on Spotify. He has launched seven No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Blinding Lights,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy” and “The Hills,” and has won four Grammys, even as he has boycotted the show since 2021.

Apart from his successful music career, The Weeknd has dabbled into other creative fields as well. He not only appeared but also collaborated on the creation of the HBO series “The Idol,” alongside his producing partner Reza Fahi and the creator of “Euphoria,” Sam Levinson. Previously, he even co-wrote and lent his voice to an episode of TBS’ “American Dad” in 2020, and made an appearance in the film “Uncut Gems.

The film “Hurry Up Tomorrow” was also created by Reza Fahim, the late Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss. In addition, Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman all share executive producer credits for this project.
