As a lifelong aficionado of daytime television, I must say that Ryan Seacrest has truly outdone himself with this Christmas prank on Vanna White. Having grown up watching Wheel of Fortune and American Idol, it’s heartwarming to see these two icons sharing such camaraderie.
Fans of “Wheel of Fortune” have grown accustomed to Ryan Seacrest taking over from Pat Sajak, and he appears to be flourishing in his new role. Besides engaging with contestants, his rapport with Vanna White seems solid, despite early rumors suggesting tension behind the scenes. Recently, Seacrest added a cheerful touch by playing White’s Christmas album during a meeting, which caught her off guard at first.
Seacrest shared a video on Instagram of him playing White’s 1996 Christmas album, Santa’s Last Ride “until she notices.” While she obviously knew he was playing Christmas music and was on board with him getting in the spirit, noting it takes her back to her childhood, she was oblivious to what kind of Christmas music he was playing. After Seacrest said it was “nostalgic,” White was able to really take in the tunes as she was sitting on the couch, and that’s when it hit her that she’s been pranked, and her reaction is priceless:

White appeared utterly astounded as Seacrest continued to express his annual listening habit of the album “Santa’s Last Ride.” Later, he cranked up the volume and relished every moment. Given that it’s been nearly 30 years since the release of “Santa’s Last Ride“, it’s delightful to witness the letter-turner reacting to its playback. Moreover, the fact that it took a while for her to realize the music was her own only added to the enjoyment. Furthermore, it’s heartening to observe the growing camaraderie between White and Seacrest.
Santa’s Last Ride marks White’s debut and sole album, penned entirely by the late British composer Leslie Bricusse. Listening to it being played by Seacrest is truly noteworthy because the album can only be found on physical CD format; it isn’t available digitally or through streaming services. Given this scarcity, it seems that either Seacrest has listened to it annually on CD, or he managed to obtain a copy somehow. In any case, the whole scenario is quite valuable.
Vanna White’s album isn’t the sole holiday celebration for Wheel of Fortune; instead, it has been hosting a Disney Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway from December 9 to December 20. The beloved game show has seen Mickey, Minnie, and their friends bringing the holiday cheer during this period. Unfortunately, one contestant had a disappointing winter when they missed a large win by giving the Bonus Round answer just after the buzzer. Although she still walked away with nearly $31,000, she missed out on an extra $40,000, making her Christmas less than joyful. Nevertheless, the money she won and the chance to interact with White and Seacrest must have made for a lively and enjoyable holiday season!
Looking forward to the upcoming seasons of “Wheel of Fortune” in 2025, fans can embark on a quest for Vanna White’s Christmas album, but it may prove elusive. Yet, the pure joy of watching the game show and this delightful video featuring her and Seacrest is more than enough to fill me with laughter-inducing holiday cheer.
