Nana Patekar compares Akshay Kumar’s THIS acting trick to Marlon Brando and calls him ‘great’ actor: ‘It's something I can’t do’

As a seasoned actor and connoisseur of the craft, I find it fascinating to observe the diverse methods actors employ to deliver their art. Nana Patekar’s recent insights into Akshay Kumar’s unique approach, reading lines from a board, remind me of the legendary Marlon Brando‘s unconventional technique in Last Tango in Paris.

In a recent interview, Nana Patekar, renowned for his powerful and varied acting, shared insights about Akshay Kumar’s distinctive acting style in the 2007 hit movie “Welcome.” This film, still cherished as a cult classic, showcases their collaboration. Interestingly, Akshay reads his lines from a board, much like Hollywood legend Marlon Brando did. However, Nana confessed that this method is not one he could master himself. Instead, he praised Akshay’s talent, referring to him as an exceptional actor for his adeptness in employing such an unconventional technique.

In a chat with The Lallantop, Nana Patekar discussed acting techniques, noting that unlike Akshay Kumar, he doesn’t use a teleprompter while performing. He admitted that simultaneously reading lines and expressing emotions can be tough for him, but he commended Akshay as an exceptional actor for excelling at it. In his own words, “I find it hard to do what he does so effortlessly, and he truly is a brilliant actor.

In the conversation, the actor from Vanvaas made a comparison using an iconic incident from the movie “Last Tango in Paris.” During that film, Marlon Brando, who momentarily forgot his lines, wrote them on his co-star’s back and continued reading them during an intimate scene.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but acknowledge that the scene in question is often lauded as one of the greatest in cinematic history. The captivating chemistry and intense performance by Marlon Brando have left viewers spellbound. Nana, in his wisdom, underscored that acting is an art of personal style and decision-making.

Presently, in his professional life, Akshay Kumar is actively filming the third part of the Welcome series. This upcoming movie boasts an impressive cast that includes Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Sanjay Dutt, and more distinguished actors.

Additionally, he will make an appearance in Housefull 5, the upcoming installment of the renowned comedy series. This time, he’ll be joined by Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Shreyas Talpade, Chunky Panday, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others. The movie is slated for release on June 6, 2025.

I’m thrilled to share that I will be part of Sky Force, a film that chronicles India’s historic first airstrike. This cinematic journey is rooted in real-life events and promises to deliver an unforgettable experience. Joining me on this adventure are talented actors Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur. Mark your calendars for the release on January 24, 2025!
