As an ardent fan of the illustrious Bollywood dynasty, I find myself utterly captivated by the promising talent that Junaid Khan, Aamir Khan’s son, has shown us in his acting debut with Maharaj. His recent revelation during his interview about not feeling pressured by comparisons to his legendary father is a testament to his maturity and unique artistic vision.
This year, Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, stepped into acting for the first time with the film Maharaj and was widely praised by movie enthusiasts. Recently, he appeared in Lucknow for the performance of his stage play titled Runaway Brides. In a recent interview, the budding actor shared if the comparisons to his famous father ever weighed heavily on him.
During an interview with PTI, Junaid Khan was questioned about feeling the weight of being compared to his famous father, Aamir Khan. In response, Junaid expressed that he and his father are unique individuals who aren’t affected by any such comparisons.
He’s never found himself in such a situation because he and his father look quite distinct, meaning they wouldn’t typically portray the same types of characters. This isn’t something that has troubled him thus far, as it hasn’t happened to him yet.
Besides this, he additionally pointed out that the three Khans of Bollywood – his father, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan – have consistently held a prominent place in the entertainment industry due to their exceptional performances. In his opinion, they have managed to stay at the peak of their careers for not only years but decades, which is quite remarkable. He underlined the fact that they have delivered outstanding work over time, a task that isn’t simple.
Apart from that, Junaid went on to express his deep respect for a variety of actors spanning different eras. He specifically mentioned veterans like Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, and Shabana Azmi. According to him, they have consistently demonstrated exceptional talent not just on the silver screen but also on the stage as well.
Following his time in front of the camera alongside Maharaj, Junaid confesses he doesn’t critique his own acting. He believes that a movie’s success is predominantly determined by the director and technical aspects. In his opinion, on-stage performances can be evaluated, but film performances have less value when it comes to self-assessment.
In terms of his professional endeavors, following his introduction to historical period dramas, Junaid is set to appear in a romantic comedy movie with Khushi Kapoor as his co-star. This upcoming production is directed by Advait Chandan, who gained recognition through Laal Singh Chaddha, and is supported by Phantom Studios & AGS Entertainment. The film is scheduled for global release on February 7, 2025, under the distribution of Zee Studios.
Besides the current project, he is working on another movie, unnamed as of now, which is being directed by Sunil Pandey and financed under the production house banner of Aamir Khan Productions, his father’s company.
