As a long-time fan of Marvel, Doctor Who, and everything in between, I must say this upcoming holiday season is shaping up to be a streaming paradise! The list of content coming our way is so extensive, it feels like Christmas came early for us couch potatoes.
The festive season is almost upon us, and I hope you were considering relaxing with some quality TV time since that seems to be the preferred choice suggested by top streaming services. In fact, Disney+’s lineup for Christmas Day alone would fill this list, but Netflix isn’t far behind, offering its first venture into live sports and the second season of one of their most-watched series ever.
On Christmas Day, live sports are highly popular, and streaming services are increasingly joining the fray. The National Football League (NFL) will be accessible via Netflix, while the NBA can be found on Disney+. However, if sports aren’t your cup of tea, there’s still plenty to enjoy, including new Marvel releases, the traditional Doctor Who holiday special, and much more.

On Christmas Day, the NFL will premiere on Netflix with two live matches. The Chiefs versus Steelers starts at 1 pm ET, followed by the Ravens against Texans at 4:30 pm ET. Mariah Carey will air a new rendition of her famous Christmas song “All I Want For Christmas,” and Beyoncé is set to perform during halftime of the Ravens/Texans game.

During the holiday seasons at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the parks become even more enchanting. If you’re unable to physically be there this year, you can still immerse yourself in the magic. These parades and performances happen across coasts, making them perfect for celebrating Christmas morning. But with streaming options, you can enjoy them anytime that suits you best.
Doctor Who: Joy to the World
This year, Ncuti Gatwa stepped into the role of the latest Doctor on “Doctor Who,” and following his initial appearance in the holiday episode from last year, he now headlines the newest “Doctor Who” Christmas Special. Joining him is a new companion named Joy, portrayed by actress Niccola Coughlan from “Bridgerton.
Squid Game (Season 2) – December 26 (Netflix)
After Christmas, Netflix will present a slightly somber contrast to all the holiday cheer with the anticipated arrival of Season 2 for the popular series “Squid Game“. The original season had been a significant draw for many Netflix subscribers, and given its popularity, it’s likely that fans won’t hesitate to dive into the new episodes as soon as they become available.
