As a devoted cinephile who’s seen more mind-bending, thought-provoking shows than I can count the neurons that got fried trying to decipher them, let me say this: AppleTV+’s Severance is a must-watch for any fan of the surreal and the sublime.
If you’re searching for a humorous, puzzling, and intriguing Christmas Eve present that streams, AppleTV+ has got you sorted! They’ve generously offered a sneak peek of the opening eight minutes from the premiere episode of Severance, nearly a month before its grand unveiling on January 17, 2025. Enjoy this tantalizing taste before the full episode premieres!
The video depicts Mark (Adam Scott), initially found within Lumon Industries, frantically sprinting through what appears to be unending, vacant corridors as he seeks his companions, Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry). In our previous encounter, these individuals had managed to breach the Innie/Outie boundary and briefly switched control between their work identities and their actual selves, all thanks to Dylan’s actions in preventing the mind-controlling device.
In their daily lives, Mark uncovers a surprising truth about his Outie’s late spouse who worked at Lumon; Irving unexpectedly learns that the Lumon colleague he admires, Burt (Christopher Walken), is in a romantic relationship; and Helly shockingly realizes she is the CEO Jame Eagen’s daughter during a gala event, where she was set to give a speech. Seizing this opportunity, Helly decides to expose Lumon’s treatment of Innies. You can catch the initial eight minutes of the series through the link below:

Apple’s Sneak-Peek Reveals Shocking Information
In the eight-minute video, when Mark eventually locates his work area, it is already taken by unfamiliar individuals. Among them are Mark W., portrayed by Bob Balaban, who proposes a different name for clarity. Also present is a woman, Alia Shawkat (unnamed), and a man, Stefano Carannante, who appears not to speak English fluently.
As soon as a familiar figure appears: It’s Milchick (Trammell Tillman), Mark’s supervisor, who walks into the room, bearing blue balloons celebrating Mark’s comeback. Milchick guides Mark to his office and explains that it’s been five months since the Innies took over Outie territory, and that Mark and his colleagues are hailed as heroes for revealing Lumon’s cruel psychological manipulation of Innies. Furthermore, Milchick discloses that while others haven’t returned yet, Mark’s counterpart pleaded to be readmitted into Lumon. However, we can’t confirm the accuracy of any of this information.
We’ve reached the end of the road for now. Patience is key as fans will need to hang on until midway through next year to catch more episodes. With MovieWeb having watched half the series, we can confidently say it’s going to be worth the wait. It’s a wild ride, so buckle up!
In the brief eight-minute preview, it wasn’t clear, but for Season 2 of Severance, we can expect to see Ben Stiller, Tony Shalhoub, Adam Scott, and Patricia Arquette reprising their roles. Additionally, newcomers Gwendolyn Christie, Merritt Wever, John Noble, and Sarah Bock will join the cast, with the latter appearing as a child worker at Lumon. The second season will comprise of ten episodes, starting on January 17, 2025, with new installments being released every Friday until March 21.
