As a music enthusiast and Disney aficionado with a soft spot for fairy tales, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming live-action Snow White remake! The teaser of Rachel Zegler’s powerful rendition of “Waiting On a Wish,” written by the EGOT-winning duo Benji Pasek and Justin Paul, has left me spellbound. With Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, this film promises to be a musical masterpiece that will have us all humming its tunes long after the credits roll.
Before the release of the live-action remake of Disney’s “Snow White,” featuring Rachel Zegler, the studio has given fans a sneak peek of the upcoming movie by unveiling a fresh, never-before-heard tune.
Titled “Waiting On a Wish,” the song is sung by Zegler’s protagonist Snow White and is written by EGOT musical duo Benji Pasek and Justin Paul. While the two are expected to have multiple features on the soundtrack, Disney has shared a teaser clip of Zegler’s character singing the song. The special clip was shared on Christmas Day and shows off Zegler’s vocal range and Pasek and Paul’s musical arrangement. In a Variety profile, director Marc Webb shared that during the filming of the movie, the script supervisor “wept” upon hearing Zegler sing, “But she also has an inherent grace, poise and goodness that reminds me so much of what is essential to Snow White.”
In this upcoming movie, Gal Gadot will play the role of the wicked queen opposite Zegler. The seven dwarves in the film are planned as CGI-created characters, mirroring the original storyline where Snow White seeks refuge among the dwarves after escaping into the woods and is pursued by the evil queen who intends to harm her. This retelling follows closely to the 1937 version of the tale.
The Snow White live-action films premieres on March 21, 2025.
