As a seasoned observer of the glamorous world of Bollywood and beyond, I must admit that the tales of Mika Singh are always a delightful mix of humor, audacity, and determination. In this anecdote, we see the singer’s relentless pursuit of recognition from none other than the esteemed Javed Akhtar, a screenwriter whose words have ignited countless Bollywood blockbusters.
Javed Akhtar is a highly esteemed screenwriter in Bollywood, having garnered numerous national and international awards for his written work. As such, many aspire to collaborate with him, hoping it will bring them recognition and open up new opportunities. Even Mika Singh, a well-known Bollywood singer, yearned for Akhtar’s attention, as the renowned lyricist had previously overlooked him. For more details, keep reading.
Speaking with The Lallantop, I, Mika Singh, shared an intriguing story about my encounters with Javed Akhtar at various shows. At one such event, I intended to make a memorable entrance, hoping he’d take notice. Yet, despite my plans, it seemed he didn’t even notice me. “I’ve always had a bit of an uncouth side,” I admitted, explaining that he never gave me the time of day.
To capture the writer’s notice, the singer of “Singh Is Kinng” leaped onto a table and playfully tugged on Javed Saab’s ear, causing him to turn his head. However, he then showed respect by touching Javed Akhtar’s feet and declared himself as a big fan. In response, Javed Akhtar simply said “Jaao (go)”.
In the same interview, Mika shared that he desperately hopes to catch the attention of the writer for Seeta Aur Geeta and receive appreciation for his efforts. However, he admitted that the person often seems to overlook him initially. Later on, there’s a gesture from them but it’s always from afar, as Singh expressed. Additionally, during this interview, Mika revealed that he informs others that his popular song, Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag, was written by Javed Akhtar and AR Rahman provided assistance with the music composition.
The artist behind “Sweety Slowly Slowly” confessed that he would mention the collaboration between himself, Javed Akhtar (a renowned writer), and A.R. Rahman (an acclaimed musician), in his song to gain more respect from others. Specifically, he said he’d disclose that Javed Akhtar contributed to its lyrics, while AR Rahman was involved with the music composition.
The Punjabi singer reminisced about an amusing incident from the past when he crossed paths with AR Rahman. He confessed that due to his limited English skills, he felt apprehensive talking to the renowned music composer during a performance. Instead of voicing his aspiration to collaborate with him someday, Mika playfully told Rahman that one day he would be working with him. However, upon reflection, he was embarrassed when he came to understand that his words might have been perceived as impolite.
