As a dedicated follower and admirer of the fashion industry, I can wholeheartedly say that Willy Chavarria‘s 2024 journey has been nothing short of extraordinary! His runway shows “Safe From Harm” and “América,” along with his recognition as the CFDA American Menswear Designer of the Year and TopMob’s Menswear Designer of the Year, have truly marked him as a force to be reckoned with.
2024 was an extraordinary year for designer Willy Chavarria. Highlights included two mesmerizing runway shows – “Safe From Harm” for Fall/Winter 2024 and “América” for Spring/Summer 2025 – and culminated in him receiving the prestigious 2024 CFDA American Menswear Designer of the Year award, along with TopMob’s Menswear Designer of the Year title. On Instagram, Chavarria shared thoughts about his creation, “Safe From Harm.
Originally displayed on February 9 inside a Brooklyn warehouse, “Safe From Harm” depicts Chavarria moving steadily towards his intended actions, as suggested by the designer at the time.
In his words during the performance, Chavarria expressed, “I wanted to ensure this presentation didn’t stray from authenticity. I also want to acknowledge our current feelings, which aren’t ideal. Yet, let’s remember we support each other in these moments.
I prefer a more organic approach where things develop at their own pace… Fashion is only one aspect, it’s deeper than that. This is merely a part of it. However, my passion lies in storytelling and crafting items that provoke unique thought processes.
