As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of experience, I must admit that the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” has truly left me spellbound. Timothée Chalamet‘s off-kilter performance as the legendary musician is nothing short of mesmerizing, and his recent revelation about his desire to star in a biopic about Ernie Johnson, host of “Inside The NBA,” has piqued my interest.
Now, I must confess, Ernie Johnson isn’t exactly the first name that comes to mind when I think of Timothée Chalamet. But then again, who would have thought he could pull off Bob Dylan? Yet, as I ponder this unexpected pairing, I find myself intrigued by the prospect.
Timothée has a knack for transforming himself into his characters, and I believe he could capture Ernie Johnson’s charm and charisma with ease. If he can make us doubt that he isn’t Bob Dylan, then surely he can convince us he’s Ernie Johnson.
And let’s not forget the comedic timing Chalamet displayed in recreating the ‘holding space’ meme with Elle Fanning. I can only imagine how hilarious it would be to see him try his hand at impersonating Ernie Johnson during “Inside The NBA.”
As for the possibility of Chalamet being included on Johnson’s shortlist of actors, well, that remains to be seen. But if history has taught us anything, it’s that dreams do come true—even those as wild as Timothée Chalamet playing Ernie Johnson.
To wrap this up, I’d like to leave you with a little joke: Why did Ernie Johnson refuse to play basketball? Because he was afraid of getting dunked on by Timothée Chalamet! After all, who knows, maybe one day we’ll see them teaming up for a biopic that’s sure to be a slam dunk.
In the grand unveiling of the 2024 film schedule, one title that caught my eye was the Bob Dylan biopic titled “A Complete Unknown”. The lead actor, Timothée Chalamet, has already hinted at his future projects, and if the opportunity arises for him to take on another biopic role, I firmly believe he would excel in portraying an intriguing figure like the host of Inside The NBA.
Following the Christmas Day premiere, both individual reviews and critics have been enthusiastic about Chalamet’s unconventional portrayal, praising him greatly. As a rising talent, I believe his future lies in more biographical films, and his choice for this role seems fitting. Recently, during the final stretch of promoting his Bob Dylan movie, Chalamet dropped by SiriusXM. Through their Instagram, hosts had a chat with him about potential public figures he’d like to portray. The multi-talented American-French actor surprisingly mentioned a sports figure as his dream biopic subject during the conversation.
If given the chance for another biographical film, who would that person be? Could we consider creating a movie about Ernie Johnson, the renowned host of ‘Inside the NBA’?
Ernie Johnson might not have been my first choice to team up with the Dune actor, but now that it’s been suggested, I find it an intriguing idea. It’s interesting that he chose Johnson too, given that Inside the NBA recently announced its ending (particularly following that Emmy speech), and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. The Wonka star certainly knows how to create attention when promoting a film. One of his latest stunts was with Elle Fanning during an interview by Tracy E. Gilchrist, where they recreated the ‘holding space’ meme.
After being selected by the established sports analyst, the actor from “Call Me By Your Name” pondered over the genuine aspects of this choice. He expressed optimism and contemplated the possibility of himself being among the select few actors chosen to portray him.
You never know. He might already have a short list of people that I’m not on.
Johnson would make an excellent choice for a historical biopic project involving sports figures. He has been active in various professional sports since 1977, with stints in basketball, baseball, and golf, among others. I think the actor from Interstellar could convincingly portray a sports broadcaster’s character, given his impressive impersonation of Bob Dylan on the set of A Complete Unknown, which left the cast and crew questioning their initial impressions.
As a lifelong movie enthusiast who has followed Timothée Chalamet’s career since his breakout role in “Call Me By Your Name,” I can confidently say that I am beyond excited for his upcoming project, “Marty Supreme.” Given my passion for sports films and my appreciation for Chalamet’s versatility as an actor, the prospect of seeing him in a 2025 comedy based on the life of ping pong legend Marty Reisman is simply too enticing to resist.
While we don’t yet know much about the film beyond its genre and potential connection to Reisman, I am already eagerly awaiting more details. The fact that Josh Safdie will be directing this project only adds to my anticipation, as I have been impressed by his previous work and believe he is the perfect choice to bring this unique story to life.
In short, I can’t help but feel that Marty Supreme could mark a significant milestone in Chalamet’s career and be a must-see for any sports or comedy fan. I can only hope that the film lives up to my expectations and delivers an unforgettable cinematic experience.
At present, the acting of Bones and All’s star as Bob Dylan satisfies me completely. Yet, being a follower of Timothée Chalamet and Inside the NBA, I eagerly await the fulfillment of his wish to portray Johnson in a future role.
A Complete Unknown is playing in theaters now.
