As a seasoned gamer and space enthusiast who grew up watching sci-fi movies and dreaming of exploring the cosmos, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement upon seeing the C2H4® x G-SHOCK Space Age Edition GM-5600 collaboration. With its sleek design inspired by the retro-futuristic aesthetics of the Space Age and innovative materials, this watch is like a dream come true for someone who’s always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and space exploration.
The LAX’s Theme Building pattern on the backlight and grid-like dial design evoke memories of watching iconic sci-fi films and imagining myself piloting a spaceship through the cosmos. The translucent strap with dotted red stripes adds an extra touch of futuristic flair that I find particularly appealing.
What really sets this watch apart, however, is the special box packaging that resembles a Sci-Fi space capsule. As someone who’s spent countless hours playing video games and exploring virtual galaxies, seeing the ATC Genie Telephone pattern engraved onto the capsule brings a sense of nostalgia and connection to my childhood dreams.
Overall, I am incredibly impressed with this collaboration and can’t wait to get my hands on one. If only I could wear it while playing my favorite space-themed video games or exploring virtual galaxies in VR, that would be the ultimate dream come true! And who knows, maybe one day I’ll actually be able to take this watch with me on a real-life journey into space – I can only hope!
Joke: You know what they say, time is relative… but at least with this G-SHOCK Space Age Edition GM-5600, I’ll always be on “GMT” (Galactic Mean Time)!
The chemical compound C2H4® and G-SHOCK have joined forces for a unique, retro-futuristic partnership. This union introduces a GM-5600 wristwatch, inspired by the sleek designs of Space Age motifs, extending from the packaging to the watch itself. The collaboration highlights streamlined forms, advanced materials, and a simplistic color scheme as its key elements.
The watch, enclosed within a polished metal casing reflective like a mirror, showcases LAX’s Theme Building as a motif on its illuminated face – a tribute to the legendary structure symbolizing the Space Age era. The design of the dial has been modernized with a grid-style pattern and emphasized by a vibrant red border that enhances the watch face’s visibility. Additionally, the strap is crafted from a translucent material and boasts red dots running along its entire circumference.
Moving forward with the Space Age concept, this timepiece arrives in a unique packaging designed to look like a spacecraft or Sci-Fi capsule at first sight. However, a recent sneak peek unveiled that its true inspiration was actually the ATC Genie Telephone. The pattern on the watch face, reminiscent of the Theme Building, is also etched onto the capsule, maintaining the theme consistency.
On January 9th, the GM-5600 Space Age Edition is set to debut on C2H4® and G-SHOCK’s official online platforms. From January 11th, this collaboration will also be accessible in certain physical G-SHOCK retail stores.
