Mackenzie Culkin was awarded the statuette for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie for “A Real Pain“, by director and co-star Jesse Eisenberg. For the film “Igby Goes Down” in 2002, he didn’t receive any awards, but later, his work on HBO’s “Succession” earned him numerous nominations. Specifically, his portrayal of Roman Roy resulted in four nominations and one win. He now refers to the Golden Globes as their favorite regular date night, given his frequent appearances.
In “A Real Pain“, Culkin and Eisenberg portray cousins making a trip to their family’s historical Poland to pay tribute to their grandmother. Critic David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter praised both actors, stating that Culkin was exceptional and had picked an ideal role to demonstrate his versatility after “Succession“. As the story unfolds, we get a deeper look into Benji’s sadder aspects, which Rooney found particularly engaging. The film premiered last year at Sundance.
Macaulay Culkin emerged victorious over other nominees including Yura Borisov, Edward Norton, Guy Pearce, Jeremy Strong, and Denzel Washington in the competition.
The production company for the Golden Globes, Dick Clark Productions, is under the ownership of a partnership known as Penske Media Eldridge. This collaboration, which also holds the ownership of THR, is a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation and Eldridge.
