Monali Thakur reveals what ‘forced’ her to leave stage mid-way during Varanasi show; ‘Disrespecting and harassing…’

A video of singer Monali Thakur abruptly ending her performance in Varanasi on December 22, 2024, due to disorganized production, has spread widely online. More recently, the vocalist posted a lengthy statement, disclosing troubling details about the “terrible and detrimental event” that “compelled” her to make this decision.

On January 6th, Monali Thakur publicly released a clarifying statement addressing allegations of defamation leveled against her team. She underscored the importance of speaking out about such occurrences in order to foster change and increase awareness regarding their handling. Additionally, she included an apology letter from the event organizers as supporting evidence for her stance.

The vocalist criticized the event management team for exploiting laws meant to prevent sexual harassment, using them instead for personal gain or revenge against those who resisted unethical practices. She wrote that such manipulation of these essential laws not only represents an egregious misuse of rights but also shows a lack of respect towards genuine victims of these horrific offenses.

Take a look

Monali disclosed that she and her group experienced extreme oversight in essential structural safety, baseless allegations of misconduct, and potentially dangerous bullying while participating in the program.

It’s completely unjust to mistreat vendors, withhold their rightful earnings, or deceive them under any circumstances. Disregarding and bullying those who work tirelessly behind the scenes, be it backstage staff, managers, or coordinators, is not a positive path to take.

Thakur spoke up for the whole entertainment industry, making it clear that such actions shouldn’t be accepted. She advocated for stronger rules to shield performers, both front-of-stage and backstage workers, from mistreatment. Her goal was to establish a secure, proficient, and respectful setting for everyone involved.

To wrap things up, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart to the brave officers of the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Varanasi Police Department. Their quick and efficient actions in managing the situation left me feeling incredibly grateful and proud.
