Is it possible that the ongoing feud between the cast of “Fast and Furious” hasn’t truly ended? This year at the Golden Globes, leading star Vin Diesel, in a move some considered petty, addressed his co-star and fellow action hero Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson during the event. While presenting the award for best cinematic and box office achievement (which went to “Wicked”), Diesel gave a sly smile towards Johnson, who was in the audience, and said, “Hey, Dwayne.
Audience members have been vocal about an awkward moment on social media, specifically Twitter, where they’ve expressed their opinions. User @xtofer_robn remarked, “That ‘hey, Dwayne’ from Vin Diesel was so heavily laden!! This is the kind of pettiness I thrive on!!!”, while @JmeKeller stated, “Vin Diesel’s ‘hi Dwayne’ is the level of subtle shade I aim to achieve in 2025. #GoldenGlobes.
There has been speculation about a potential reoccurrence of the highly publicized incident, as @bbozuteru expressed, “Dwayne Johnson is just one moment away from storming the stage and attacking Vin Diesel live on air.” @sonofsunday129 remarked, “You could almost see The Rock’s animosity towards Vin Diesel in that image. Oh my goodness!”, while @Ex_Factor618 commented, “It seems like The Rock is about to deliver a People’s Elbow.
The Feud Takes to the Big Screen in ‘Fast & Furious 11’
In 2016, rumors of a dispute between stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson from the movie “Fast Five” started circulating, with Johnson criticizing certain male co-stars on social media without explicitly naming anyone. It’s widely believed that Diesel was the intended target. Diesel later responded by discussing “tough love,” a statement which Johnson found amusing and hinted at his departure from the “Fast and Furious” series as early as 2021.
As a follower, I’ve expressed my hopes for their success. I’m rooting for them on Fast 9, and I hope they have great fortune on Fast 10, Fast 11, and every subsequent Fast & Furious film they produce without me. The superstar couldn’t help but chuckle at Diesel’s earlier comments and the “tough love” statement, finding it amusing and humorous.
Contrary to earlier speculation, Johnson will indeed rejoin the highly popular action series for the concluding chapter titled Fast 11, or Fast XI. Previously, Johnson had expressed regret about his public disagreements with his co-star. However, he reappeared as the indomitable character Luke Hobbs in a post-credits scene at the end of Fast X, where his character was drawn into the ongoing conflict instigated by Jason Momoa’s antagonist. Last year, following his return to the series, Johnson spoke about the feud, stating, “Vin and I have put all our past differences aside.
I’m thrilled to announce that Luke Hobbs is making a comeback to the Fast & Furious series! The global excitement for his return in Fast X has been nothing short of incredible. In the upcoming Fast & Furious film, you’ll find Hobbs embarking on a new journey that will lay the groundwork for FASTX: Part II. Last summer, Vin Diesel and I put the past behind us, promising to focus on brotherhood, resolution, and above all, honoring the franchise, characters, and fans we cherish.
