Discovery+ Latest Streamer to Get Price Hike, Cost Raised by $1 Per Month

New year, new streaming price hikes.

2025 marks the beginning of increased pricing for streaming services as Warner Bros. Discovery becomes the pioneer, boosting the cost of its Discovery+ platform. The ad-supported plan now costs $5.99 per month, an increase of $1 from its previous price. Similarly, the ad-free plan will now set customers back $9.99 per month, also a dollar more than before.

New subscribers will experience an increase in price right away, while existing Disney+ subscribers will receive a 30-day heads up before any changes take effect.

Discovery+, one of WBD’s specialized streaming platforms, coexists with the broader Max service, which combines Discovery content with HBO and other premium content offerings. The company doesn’t reveal the number of subscribers for each service, but it’s clear that Discovery+ has a smaller user base compared to Max. However, despite its size, Discovery+ has been profitable for quite some time according to executives.

Discovery+ houses a variety of shows, including the 90 Day series, My 600-lb Life, Worst Cooks in America Celebrity Edition: Heroes vs. Villains, which premiered on January 5, and The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: The Final Chapter, which started airing on January 6.

Warner Bros. Discovery increased the price for their ad-free version of Discovery+ in the year 2023, and also raised the monthly fee for the ad-free tier of Max recently. This was partially done to encourage customers towards their more affordable ad-supported alternative.

Disney+, Peacock, and Hulu also hiked prices last year.
