Studio Proba, established by versatile designer and artist Alex Proba, frequently employs swimming pools as canvases for her vibrant murals. In her latest endeavor, she elevates the idea using custom-made ceramic tiles instead.
In order to create the stunning underwater mosaic, the satellite Proba sought out the expertise of Ceramica Suro – a renowned Mexican ceramics company based in Guadalajara, boasting more than seven decades of artisanal knowledge and skill in producing superior craftwork.
Working with Proba, Jose Suro from Ceramica Suro noted, “She possesses an exceptional ability to blend colors and forms into remarkable, indelible artworks. Her talent for harmonizing creativity with accuracy has consistently left us in awe.
The partners portrayed a symbolic representation of coral reefs on the surface, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of marine life and ecosystems found in the adjacent Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Beneath the blue expanse, the artwork comes alive with motion, showcasing flowing shapes and shimmering hues. In this underwater scene, intricate images depict the extraordinary sensation of swimming within the depicted space.
The fundamental bond between people and their tasks is deeply rooted in Proba’s core values, encouraging spectators to participate rather than merely observe from afar.
