Anees Bazmee’s movie “Welcome” was adored for its hilarious humor, skillful comedic delivery by the actors, and engaging plotline. Lately, Paresh Ganatra, who played a significant yet minor role in the film, disclosed that his popular line was enhanced by Nana Patekar, whose comic prowess in “Welcome” remains celebrated by fans.
During an interview with Digital Commentary, Paresh Ganatra shared that Anees Bazmee initially proposed a 20-25 day filming schedule for Welcome, intending to cast him in a substantial role. However, Ganatra turned it down due to existing obligations. Later, Bazmee offered him a smaller screen presence during the movie’s finale, which he had anticipated. As a result, he traveled to Lonavala, near Tiger Point, for the filming.
During his journey, Paresh proposed a dialog line for the team and asked if they could consider using it. To which Anees replied, “I think that line you suggested is good.” Eventually, Anees agreed with him. The actor found this line suitable for his character, and Bazmee granted him permission to use it.
In Welcome, the actor from No Entry shared that the initial plan for the scene and his character was set, but the director collaborated with the scriptwriters to refine it. Later, co-star Nana Patekar joined in; upon hearing the revised dialogue, he improvised on the spot, leading to the famous line, “Why did you kill me? I wasn’t illegal, why did you kill me?” This impromptu addition greatly enhanced the comedic element.
As a lifestyle expert, I can confidently say that I was thrilled by the clever improvisations in that particular scene, and the writing was simply outstanding – it truly shone during the uproariously funny climax of the film. In fact, it’s safe to say that Paresh’s role in this movie remains a cherished memory among fans even today.
2007 saw the arrival of the comedy film, aptly titled “Welcome,” helmed by Anees Bazmee. Renowned for its clever dialogue exchanges and outstanding performances, this movie showcased a star-studded cast that included Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Feroz Khan, among others. It has since proven to be a box office hit.
