Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are set to captivate viewers with their pairing in the upcoming movie titled Thama. This horror-comedy, produced by Dinesh Vijan, was initially announced in October of last year. Abhishek Banerjee, famous for his character Jana in Maddock Films’ cinematic universe, has hinted whether he will join director Aditya Sarpotdar’s team on this project as well.
As I chat with SCREEN from Indian Express, I shared some intriguing insights about my role in the thrilling world of Thama. Although I’m keeping most details under wraps for now, I couldn’t resist a playful hint: “I find myself entwined in the horror universe – all I can reveal is that much. But fear not, wherever there’s chills and spills, Jana will be right there, so stay tuned!
In conversation with Bollywood Hungama recently, Banerjee expressed his thoughts on Maddock Films’ upcoming horror-comedy productions. He hinted that the audience has already encountered his character Jana in Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. Furthermore, he playfully suggested, “If Jana is a favorite of spirits (ghosts) and demons, then anything might be possible.
Speaking with enthusiasm about my upcoming movie project, I couldn’t help but exclaim to Hindustan Times that this is an opportunity of a lifetime! I’m absolutely thrilled about joining forces for this unique cinematic journey, and it’s particularly invigorating following the triumph of Stree 2. Let’s dive in together and create something extraordinary!
Under the guidance of director Aditya Sarpotdar, who gained popularity with Munjya, the movie Thama stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. Rashmika Mandanna also appears in this film, along with prominent actors Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film is positioned to hit theaters during Diwali 2025, unfolding against a gritty backdrop.
It was recently disclosed that Khurrana has been preparing for the second shoot of Thama in Delhi, following a brief schedule in Mumbai late last year. This shoot is scheduled to run until the early part of January.
