In Path of Exile 2, you’re likely to find yourself spending a significant amount of your free time in The Hideout, either creating items, managing your loot, or just relaxing and appreciating the coziness of your own private area.
However, before you can personalize it, you must first open it. Fortunately, acquiring a unique Hideout is quite achievable.
This tutorial will show you step-by-step on how to access it, personalize it, and configure all necessary elements for the final stage.
How To Unlock The Hideout
Once you finish the main storyline in Path of Exile 2, you can unlock the Hideout.
Once you complete the primary story arc that concludes with the “Legacy of the Vaal”, your destination will be the Vaal Ziggurat.
Doryani’s here to show you the Atlas of Worlds, PoE 2’s endgame system.
Here’s the situation: You’re able to open your hideout, yet there are some additional tasks that must be completed first for you to access it.
As soon as you’re in the Atlas of Worlds, you’ll notice map nodes marked with a blue fleur-de-lis.
These icons point to possible Hideout sites dispersed throughout the Atlas.
To get into your Hideout, pick a node and use a Waystone.
To start, the initial hideout is relatively basic, hosting mainly weak opponents. After defeating these adversaries, the space becomes exclusively yours to enjoy.
Unlike in the past, you can unlock a Hideout much earlier—some players can even do so in Act 2.
You don’t have to stay in one place, but completing the objectives locks the area.
1. Eliminate the adversaries at this location, or risk having the place revert back, keeping you barred from the Hideout. Once it’s opened up, feel free to dash over to your secret base.

2. If you don’t take care of the foes in this spot, the area could reset and prevent you from accessing the Hideout. After it’s open again, simply make your way to your covert headquarters.
To get back there, let’s navigate to the World Map (by pressing ‘U’ on your PC), then select the Hideout section located beneath the Underground Map symbol.
After that, feel free to explore your freshly acquired Hideout, or any others you’ve unlocked by capturing additional nodes.
Having your first Hideout is nice, but you might want to change the scenery after a while.
Fortunately, the more you explore the Atlas, the more Hideout tilesets you can unlock.
At the moment, you can choose from four distinct settings: the hidden nooks known as the Canal Sanctuary, the Felled Sanctuary, the Limestone Sanctuary, and the Shrine Sanctuary.
Four different hideaways are accessible at present: the Canals’ Concealed Retreat, the Cleared Hideaway, the Limestone Shelter, and the Sanctum Hideout.
You can switch between them by speaking to Alva, the NPC handling Hideout changes.
She provides the option to Select Hideout, letting you choose a new map and layout for your base.
The customization options in your Hideout are one of its most thrilling aspects.
Stepping into my secret lair, I found the hidden gem – the layout editor! Located at the bottom corner of the screen, it’s the tiny arrow icon that holds the key to customization.
In your hideout, you have the flexibility to reposition, rotate, or change the location of various elements such as non-player characters (NPCs), crafting workstations, and decorative items.
Arrange your hideout by positioning vital Non-Player Characters like Doryani (who identifies items) and Ketzuli (used for disenchanting) close to often utilized workstations such as crafting stations.
This reduces the need to cross the Hideout, giving you more time to do other things.
You can easily import and export Hideout designs to reuse your favorite layouts whenever you want.
With each advancement in the game, you’ll earn additional decorative items, characters, and workstations to enhance your environment.
As new options appear in updates, you might want to play around with different Hideout designs.
Members of a guild have the privilege of utilizing the Guild Headquarters too, however, keep in mind that it isn’t identical to your own private hideaway.
By hitting the “Guild Hideout” button on your map, you’ll be able to enter our hideout earlier.
