After breaking viewing records, the recent action film titled “[Title]“, helmed by director “[Director Name]“, is set to receive a sequel. However, fans might be disappointed to learn that, as of now, there are no official discussions about a “Carry-On 2” movie. This information comes from an interview with the director, conducted by Variety, following the news that “Carry-On” has become the fifth most-watched English-language Netflix film, garnering a total of 149.5 million views since its release last month.
Though there are no definite plans for it yet, the filmmaker has some thoughts about what a sequel might entail. Expressing his readiness to come back if that’s what viewers prefer, the director hinted at the possibility of a new Carry-On, focusing on Danielle Deadwyler’s character, LAPD detective Elena Cole, rather than Taron Egerton’s TSA agent Ethan Kopek.
At the moment, we’re not working on a follow-up. However, if the public and our fans express a strong desire for a sequel, and we come up with an idea that could match the quality of the original, then we might consider it. For now, though, there are no definite plans in place.
There’s no set schedule for it yet, but it’s enjoyable to speculate about the possibility of these stories coming to life. These characters are captivating, particularly Danielle Deadwyler’s portrayal of [detective Elena Cole]. She seems like she could be the star of a film all her own.
Jaume Collet-Serra Celebrates ‘Carry-On’s Streaming Popularity
Speaking about the widespread acclaim of “Carry-On” by both critics and viewers, director Collet-Serra shared his experience of learning that this action adventure had garnered a dedicated fanbase. He also expressed indifference towards the fact that the film was premiered on streaming platforms rather than in cinemas.
Beyond just focusing on the box office figures, what truly matters is observing people’s responses to the film. Since its release, I’ve been inundated with phone calls and messages from friends, as well as individuals who didn’t even know I was the director. They remained unaware until they saw the credits, and then they started texting me about how much they enjoyed it. In that moment, I knew the film had found its audience and resonated with them.
Originally, we followed the same method for ‘Non-Stop’ as I have used for every film intended for theaters. However, given current circumstances, if I were to make ‘Non-Stop’ today, it might not be destined for theaters. Times are changing, and I’m content with that. As long as they can find an audience through any means, that’s fantastic. Technically and visually, there was nothing I held back in ‘Non-Stop’ that wouldn’t also appear in any other project I undertake.
Under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra and penned by T.J. Fixman, the film titled Carry-On features Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) in the lead role alongside Sofia Carson (Purple Hearts) and Danielle Deadwyler (The Piano Lesson). Notably, Jason Bateman, known for his roles in Arrested Development and Ozark, takes on an unusual role as the movie’s antagonist. The action-packed thriller unfolds around a TSA officer who becomes embroiled in blackmail during the holiday mayhem of Christmas Day. You can now stream this movie, and for more details, take a look at the official synopsis provided below.
On Christmas Eve, a youthful Transportation Security Administration officer finds himself in a tense struggle against an enigmatic passenger. This passenger threatens to reveal something incriminating about the officer unless he allows a potentially harmful item to board the flight.
