‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘Suits LA’ Among Many Productions Halted During Fires

The fierce wildfires currently burning through Los Angeles County have temporarily halted numerous television shows from filming.

Over a dozen TV series filmed in L.A., including shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Price Is Right”, have temporarily halted filming due to wildfires that have broken out in areas such as Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and other locations within the region. These fires have led to evacuations for tens of thousands of people, and have resulted in damage to homes and businesses. The fires were ignited by a sudden windstorm and extremely dry weather on Tuesday, and as of midday Wednesday, none of them had been brought under control.

Some of the shows that have been put on hold for production include Max’s “Hacks,” NBC’s “Happy’s Place” and “Suits LA,” Apple TV+’s “Loot” and Peacock’s “Ted,” all from Universal Studio Group; CBS’ “After Midnight,” “NCIS,” “NCIS: Origins,” “The Neighborhood,” “Poppa’s House” (all produced by CBS Studios), and “The Price Is Right” (Fremantle); and ABC’s “Doctor Odyssey,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (all from 20th Television). As more details emerge, this story will be updated.

Due to the fires, many major industry events such as premieres and award ceremonies have been cancelled, and the Critics Choice Awards have been rescheduled.

Film LA, the office in charge of film permits in Los Angeles city and county, has temporarily withdrawn all filming permits for locations such as Altadena, La Crescenta, La Cañada Flintridge, and unincorporated Pasadena (near the site of the Eaton Fire). They also warn the film production community that due to the local State of Emergency, the usual personnel resources available for filming may not be accessible at this time.

More to come.
