‘It’s Really, Really Rough’: Will Trent’s Ramón Rodríguez Reveals Where Things Stand With Angie In Season 3, And Now I See Why He Looks So Scruffy

Hey there, fellow enthusiasts! The 2025 TV lineup is thrilled to be presenting the aftermath of Will Trent’s gripping Season 2 finale. As we navigate through a myriad of plot threads, series star and executive producer Ramón Rodriguez sheds light on where things currently stand – and yes, that includes the status between Will and Angie (Erika Christensen). Frankly, I can’t help but empathize with the man’s scruffy appearance!

In the Season 2 finale of “Will Trent”, titled “Do You See the Vision?”, it was revealed that Angie’s attempt to hide a murder ended up unleashing a serial killer. This led to Will arresting her, an event that was quite distressing. After this turn of events, our main character decided to use some of his accumulated time off to take a break and vanish from sight. Ramón Rodriguez recently provided an update on this, which he shared with TV Insider.

It’s clear that he and Angie aren’t communicating at all now. She’s no longer working as an Assistant Police Detective (APD). The first time we see him returning home, Nico is upset with him. We notice the dining table, which once symbolized their future together, but it’s evident that it won’t be the case anymore. This story follows his journey post his decision to leave, and we delve into various relationships affected by this decision throughout the season, exploring how they might reconcile.

If you missed the thrilling Season 3 premiere of Will Trent, that’s alright. I won’t give away any spoilers since I haven’t watched it either. But, I have seen the trailer that aired before its broadcast, and I’d like to share it with you to give you an idea of how rugged our determined GBI agent appears in this new season.

Will, sporting a beard and absent for half a year without a trace, certainly gives off the vibe of someone who’s gone “off-grid” a la James Bond in Skyfall, albeit without the bullet wounds. Given that he’s the meticulously groomed and fastidious character conjured by author Karin Slaughter, it’s understandable if he appears somewhat disheveled. If you were on the brink of living your dream life with the one you love, only to find yourself arresting them instead, you’d likely feel a similar mix of emotions too.

Just like you’d predict for the series “Will Trent,” Season 3 will delve into the repercussions of Will’s decisions. This situation also provides Erika Christensen’s complex, compassionate cop character with an opportunity to express herself more fully. Based on Ramón Rodriguez’s recent comments, that seems to be the case.

Initially, the series is quite challenging as it unfolds, but when Will and Angie eventually meet, it’s not a simple encounter. They both have valid grievances against each other, and Will has his own explanations for his actions. Consequently, their situation becomes quite intricate. Here’s hoping that viewers find the complexity engaging.

Personally, I’m overjoyed for two main causes: one, my favorite detective, Will Trent, is back on ABC every Tuesday at 8 PM ET, and two, judging by the trailer, it seems like Special Agent Trent will be back in action by the end of Season 3 premiere, just as sharp as ever.

Additionally, I’m curious about how invested I should become in Gina Rodriguez’s possible romantic character, or if the relationship between Will and Angie will continue to captivate me. If, like me, you may have missed Part One of this two-part tale, it can be watched now with a Hulu subscription. Remember that those who prefer streaming can catch up on new episodes after they air on television.
