The entertainment industry in Hollywood is temporarily halting due to several fierce wildfires burning across Los Angeles, which were ignited by powerful gusts of wind sweeping through the region on Tuesday.
The premieres for “Unstoppable” and “Wolf Man,” as well as an awards event for “Emilia Pérez,” were called off on Tuesday. Additionally, red carpet events for “Better Man,” “The Pitt,” and “On Call” were canceled on Wednesday. Despite the forecast for winds to die down by Wednesday evening, the town has emptied its event calendar for the coming days due to safety concerns and respect for those affected by the ongoing fires in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena, Altadena, and other parts of the city.
The screening of “The Last Showgirl” on Thursday, featuring Pamela Anderson and originally scheduled for the TCL Chinese Theatre, has been called off. Additionally, a special viewing of Bleecker Street’s films “Love Me” and “A Complete Unknown”, along with the Coach dinner with actress Elle Fanning, have been rescheduled. The American Cinematheque’s fourth annual event honoring the Crafts at the Egyptian Theatre has also been postponed.
The AFI Awards ceremony, which is usually a glamorous lunch event celebrating the top 10 films and television shows of the year, has been rescheduled. Additionally, Donna Langley’s toast at Sunset Tower on Friday and the BAFTA Tea Party in Beverly Hills scheduled for Saturday have been canceled. Furthermore, the Critics Choice Awards, initially planned for Sunday in Santa Monica, have been moved to a later date.
As a gamer, I’ve got my eyes peeled on the events lined up in New York. The National Board of Review went ahead with their NYC awards gala earlier this week, and as of now, premieres for movies like “American Primeval,” “Back in Action,” and “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” are still on the calendar. Fingers crossed they don’t get scrapped!
