A versatile man, known for his numerous movie roles, has ventured beyond acting and embarked on a U.S. tour with his band, Bill Murray and His Blood Brothers. The group features the Ghostbusters star alongside rock and blues musicians such as Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia. Their tour began in Chicago on January 3.
Although Murray’s concert might not surpass Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in terms of popularity, his charm and a band of talented musicians will undoubtedly attract fans. However, if you want to attend one of these “dad-rock cover band” shows, be prepared to spend at least $250 for each ticket. Luckily, those who can’t afford it or travel to the venue can enjoy the January 3 and November performances on YouTube, as videos from both concerts are available online.
Murray’s partnership with Zito and Castiglia was sparked by a performance at the annual Caddyshack Golf Tournament hosted by the Murray Brothers in St. Augustine, Florida. During this show, they collaborated on stage, which inspired the 74-year-old to propose taking their combined skills on a road trip, offering a unique event for those lucky enough to attend. The next stop of this tour is during SF Sketchfest at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA, on January 29. Following a series of dates until April, the tour will pause – possibly while Murray takes on an acting role – before another date (for now) in Kentucky in October. Here are some of the scheduled dates:
February 7: Variety Playhouse, Atlanta, GA
March 25: Paramount Theatre, Austin, TX
April 11: Val Air Ballroom, Des Moines, IA
October 4: Louisville Palace, Louisville, KY
You can obtain tickets from multiple sources, as the costs may differ depending on the specific venue and the chosen seat location.
Bill Murray Has a Long History with Music
During his time on Saturday Night Live (SNL), Murray frequently showcased his musical talent through various characters, like Nick the Lounge Singer. In a world where opinions about what constitutes a good song and singer differ greatly, these less formal performances might not have suggested that the actor would eventually perform for ticket-buying audiences.
Prior to his ongoing tour, Murray has often surprised audiences with unexpected musical segments, such as a piece in the film “Lost in Translation,” his Netflix special, “A Very Murray Christmas,” featuring holiday standards sung alongside guest stars, and an impromptu concert in Central Park. Although his structured tour is a different entity, due to the scarcity of dates, those eager to witness this one-of-a-kind show have few opportunities or chances to secure tickets.
For individuals who prefer not to listen to Murray’s vocal performances, they can still enjoy his presence on the screen through his latest films such as “The Friend” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
