After Glen Powell And Josh Brolin, The Running Man Has Added Another A+ Talent To Its Cast, And I’m Beyond Excited

Edgar Wright’s forthcoming remake of “The Running Man” has been in progress for several weeks, yet the fact that cameras are turning doesn’t imply that the movie is complete with its remarkable cast. The film boasts a roster that includes Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Katy O’Brian, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera and others, and it’s been announced that Colman Domingo, an Academy Award nominee, has joined the cast as well.

As reported by Deadline, the actor from Rustin and Sing Sing has joined the cast of The Running Man, taking on the role of the main host character. This part was famously portrayed by Richard Dawson in the 1987 film with Arnold Schwarzenegger, but since Edgar Wright’s movie is intended to be a more accurate representation of Stephen King’s novel (written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), viewers should anticipate a distinct interpretation of this role.

In the latest film, Glen Powell portrays Ben Richards – a man struggling in a United States transformed into a dystopian society. Desperate to obtain medication for his ailing child, he agrees to participate in a hazardous game show run by a government-backed television network. As a result, he becomes a contestant on the country’s most watched program, The Running Man, where he must evade capture as an outlaw. The longer he manages to stay alive, the more funds are allocated for his family.

1987’s film portrays Richard Dawson as the primary antagonist in the role of Damon Killian, whereas Colman Domingo is set to appear as a secondary adversary in Edgar Wright’s adaptation. His character will serve as the friendly facade for the sinister Network, urging viewers to watch out for Ben Richards and report any sightings. However, it is Josh Brolin’s portrayal of the TV executive that will take on the role of the main antagonist in the story.

As a huge fan, I’m thrilled to share that, although Domingo Colman’s acting journey began in the mid-90s, his role in “The Running Man” marks his debut in a Stephen King adaptation. This film is just one of three exciting projects slated for 2025 where he will shine; he portrays Joe Jackson in the Michael Jackson biopic titled “Michael,” and stars in Anthony and Joe Russo’s highly-anticipated Netflix blockbuster, “The Electric State.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating “The Running Man,” one of six adaptations from Stephen King this year. With its release date just months away, I can hardly contain my excitement as Paramount Pictures has set the thriller for November 7.
