Fateh: Sonu Sood spills beans about inflated film budgets; ‘an actor scheduled to shoot in the morning…’

Actor Sonu Sood is widely recognized as one of Bollywood’s most gifted performers, known not only for his acting skills but also for his kindness, social contributions, and straightforward opinions. In a recent conversation about his upcoming directorial debut, he addressed the issue of excessive spending within the film industry. He pointed out that bloated budgets often result from large production crews and delays by actors, but he emphasized that he personally implemented cost-saving measures for the production of his upcoming film, “Fateh.

In a recent chat with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Sonu Sood stated that excessive spending on films doesn’t always translate well on the big screen. He disclosed that a significant amount of money is unnecessarily spent on handling actor’s tardiness and bringing along large crews for international shoot locations.

Sood explained that an actor scheduled to film in the morning might actually arrive at 3 in the afternoon. During filming breaks, actors often stay inside their vehicles and emerge gradually once everything is set up for the next shot – all while the clock keeps ticking.

Furthermore, he pointed out a common practice among producers, who often assemble oversized crews of 150-200 individuals for filming abroad, increasing the budget. Yet, only 100 crew members are actually needed for production.

Instead, the director opted for a unique method since he journeyed solo to the U.S. for a specific segment and recruited only a small team of 12 locals. They filmed at well-known spots such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, making it more economical by obtaining permissions easily and managing a compact crew.

To provide another instance, he explained, “During my trip to Dubai for filming, I took just six individuals, including actors. I employed locals there. As a film producer myself, I managed to save significantly more than other producers who typically bring 50-100 people overseas.

Fateh, a movie helmed by Sonu Sood as both director and co-producer, features Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in significant parts. This production made its grand debut on the big screen on January 10th.
