Karan Johar’s cherished Student of the Year film series is expanding past its two movies, as a new web series is being developed. According to rumors, Dharma Productions’ digital division will produce this series, with Reema Maya at the helm as director. It has been reported that Shanaya Kapoor might assume a significant role in the upcoming drama series. In recent news, Alaya F is speculated to join the cast, taking on the role of the second female lead.
According to recent reports from Bollywood Hungama, there are rumors that Alaya F might be part of the teenage drama series alongside Shanaya Kapoor. However, it’s important to note that Dharma Productions’ digital division, Dharmatic Entertainment, has not yet officially confirmed the full cast or the platform for the Student of the Year series.
Previously, Karan Johar announced plans for Student of the Year 3 during a visit to the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Punjab. He revealed that Reema Maya will be directing the digital adaptation of this series, but he emphasized that it would showcase her distinctive perspective rather than his own.
Karan shared that if he got involved with Reema Maya’s world, he’d incorporate more abstract aspects into it, reflecting her name’s meaning – illusion. Essentially, he wants the series to authentically express Reema’s unique perspective since she has personally imbued it.
Back in 2012, Karan Johar started a movie series known as Student of the Year, which was the first appearance for actors Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra. Recently, in 2019, Punit Malhotra took over directing duties for the sequel, featuring newcomers Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria along with Tiger Shroff.
