Eventually graced the big screen this weekend, but lead actor [blank] is already eyeing the sequel in the series. Despite a seven-year wait for Jackson Jr. to reunite with co-star [blank], the former has suggested that the third film won’t take as long to produce. Intriguingly, Jackson Jr. recently shared his thoughts on where his character might head in the upcoming movie to Variety.
I’m going to be straightforward: I’m aiming to emulate Vin Diesel in this project. As Ryan Reynolds once said, I want to collaborate with Gerard until he turns 90. Honestly, I enjoy doing these projects so much that it’s hard for me to put into words how grateful I am to Christian, Gerard, and Tucker Tooley. In the past, after ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ my career took a break for about a year because there was a stereotype against me that said, “Of course he can play his dad.” However, Christian, Tucker, and Gerard took a risk on me.
They arrived at a time when other places weren’t considering me for scripts, yet they believed in me. There’s such a sense of family among these individuals. I have other films I long to be part of, but we mustn’t tarnish this wonderful project that we’ve created together. This one took approximately six or seven years to complete, and I hope the next one doesn’t take as long. Deep down, we won’t succeed if it’s not the right fit and if it doesn’t maintain the charm that initially captivated audiences with the franchise.
‘Den of Thieves 2’ Has Improved on Its Predecessor
Unlike many sequels that often struggle under the weight of diminishing returns, this isn’t the case for “Den of Thieves 2”. Instead, it has managed to boost its critical score by approximately 20% compared to the original released in 2018. With audiences contributing to a successful opening weekend, there’s no reason to believe that “Den of Thieves 3” won’t repeat this success all over again.
Initially, Den of Thieves 2 received a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 41%, similar to its predecessor. However, this score has since climbed to 63%. Interestingly, the audience rating for the movie has followed a similar trajectory. The sequel now boasts an impressive 80% score, significantly higher than the 64% awarded to the 2018 release.
Gerard Butler has become well-known for his roles in action movies, much like Jason Statham and Liam Neeson. Although some of his action films have been criticized for being formulaic and repetitive, Den of Thieves 2 appears to be breaking the mold on numerous fronts. The success at the box office of this film will determine if a third installment is made, but if given the chance, both stars are eager to reprise their roles.
