As a seasoned insider in India’s glittering film world, spanning over several decades, I’ve had the privilege of sharing the silver screen with some truly iconic figures from Bollywood, such as Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and many others. Recently, during an engaging conversation with TopMob on our podcast, I reminisced about a couple of fascinating projects that never quite made it to the big screen in the 90s – one being a film alongside Salman Khan, Govind, and Jackie Shroff, and another being the sequel to Jaani Dushman. Keep an eye out for more intriguing insights from my chat with TopMob!
During her conversation with TopMob, Manisha Koirala reminisced about the past when the host displayed an old photo featuring Salman Khan, Govinda, and Jackie Shroff. She promptly identified this snapshot as one taken during the production of their unfinished movie, Raju, Raja, Ram.
Speaking further about the project, the seasoned Bollywood actress revealed that David Dhawan was initially planned to direct it, Jackie Shroff was intended to produce it, and both Govinda and Salman Khan were set to appear in it. “The idea was to adapt a play into a film about a character who is deaf, mute, and blind,” she enthusiastically shared.

Throughout our chat, it was mentioned that she has collaborated with some of the most prominent Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, and Akshay Kumar (and several others not specifically named).
Looking back at the past, she reminisced, “Those times were unique. We all were like a group of friends, always up to something fun. (Or: Those were days filled with laughter and camaraderie.) Back then, we lived in joy, truly happy days. We were the mischievous ones. Our work was not just a job but an adventure. And yet, we loved causing trouble too, making things exciting.
Moving forward, she was inquired about collaborating again on the sequel to her 2002 movie “Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani,” alongside Akshay, Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, and others. Eagerly, Manisha expressed her enthusiasm by flashing a broad smile, labeling the action-fantasy film as a ‘cult classic.’ “We were well aware of what we were stepping into,” she shared, followed by a hearty laugh.
Jaani Dushman 2 or not, we would love to see her share the screen with such B-town stars again.
