2025 marks an exciting time for debuts at theme parks worldwide. The much-anticipated opening of Universal Orlando‘s Epic Universe later this year is expected to place it among the top theme parks globally, based on current information. Meanwhile, Disneyland is planning a new, albeit contentious, attraction that could revolutionize the industry. In contrast, Disney World will introduce numerous new attractions in 2025, despite some dissenting opinions.
However, with the introduction of new rides often comes closure of existing ones, and today, a significant area within Disney World has temporarily shut down its operations. On the other hand, Universal Orlando is making light of the situation with a subtle jab.
In the upcoming years, Disney World will introduce a new area called Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, replacing Dinoland U.S.A. This change is already underway, with Dinoland U.S.A. currently closed. Just a heads-up: if you’re dinosaur enthusiasts, another Orlando theme park has plenty of space dedicated to these prehistoric creatures.
Isn’t it wonderful if there existed a theme park featuring a dinosaur-themed zone, complete with thrilling rides and the chance to encounter these prehistoric creatures – hold on, that’s actually going to happen on January 13, 2025! 😊
It’s worth mentioning that Universal’s Islands of Adventure boasts an impressive dinosaur-themed zone. Highlights include the thrilling Jurassic Park River Adventure and the exceptional Jurassic World Velocicoaster, which is often considered one of Florida’s top roller coasters, if not globally.
Frankly speaking, from the get-go, Universal’s dinosaurs have often surpassed Disney World’s offerings. The Dinosaur dark ride has been a cherished staple, but many will feel the loss, as Dinoland U.S.A., despite housing some popular attractions and carnival games, was typically not the park’s highlight for most visitors. It might have had its appeal, but it wasn’t usually the top choice among guests.
The upcoming construction of the Tropical Americas section within Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to expand its offerings significantly. While other areas of the park are themed around various global regions, Central and South America has been relatively underrepresented until now. In terms of attractions, visitors can anticipate the debut of the first full Encanto attraction in any Disney park, along with a new carousel featuring a variety of creatures from both Disney and Pixar’s rich history, allowing guests to enjoy a ride on these iconic characters.
For those who love the timeless Dinosaur ride, there’s still hope to enjoy it in the coming years. It seems the attraction is staying open until at least 2025, as per Disney World’s announcements. However, when it eventually closes, it will be transformed into an Indiana Jones-themed attraction instead.
Another Disney World attraction, the It’s Tough To Be A Bug show at the Tree of Life Theater, is being transformed into a Zootopia-themed production titled “Zootopia: Better Together”. The exact timeline for closing the current show hasn’t been announced yet, but it looks like the new show will debut before the end of 2025.
