As a die-hard fanboy bursting with excitement, I can’t help but share my heartfelt thoughts about my upcoming acting debut in Bollywood alongside the legendary Akshay Kumar in Sky Force! In this awe-inspiring aerial action extravaganza, I am honored to embody the character of Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya.
Working on this movie has been an emotional rollercoaster for me, especially when it came time to shoot the final scene. The sheer magnitude of the sacrifices made by the honorable figure portrayed in the film for our nation left me feeling incredibly humbled and grateful for the opportunity to bring his story to life. I can’t wait for everyone to see this masterpiece unfold on the big screen!
During an interview with Mid-day, Veer Pahariya shared that depicting a daring aerial battle resulting in Devayya’s selfless sacrifice was quite demanding for him. He explained, “I’m confined within the cockpit and my entire face is hidden. This scene offers a glimpse of how fearless the character is. I could only express his vulnerability, bravery, and fervor through my eyes. Upon completing these scenes, I found myself moved by the man and the sacrifice he made, so much so that I broke down and cried to my directors.
Beyond what’s already mentioned, the newcomer revealed that an initial feeling experienced when taking on such a role is “overwhelm,” as he was overwhelmed by the grandeur of the character he had to portray. He elaborated that while there is an abundance of information available about this individual, bringing him to life on-screen proved to be a challenge for him.
He assured himself that by focusing intensely and giving his best effort, he could solve the problem at hand. He was confident that if he excelled, this movie could motivate an entire generation of young individuals to consider joining the military.
In his own words, what truly helped Veer excel were the stories about Devayya’s personal life. Even though he gained insights into Devayya’s overall life, it was these anecdotes that proved crucial. He disclosed that he was stationed at Air Force bases in Lohegaon (Maharashtra), Suratgarh (Rajasthan), Delhi, Pathankot, and Gwalior. Interacting with fellow fighter pilots of his generation, as well as Devayya’s family members, aided him in portraying the role more authentically.
Sky Force will be released in theaters on January 24, 2025.
