NewsNation Taps Leland Vittert to Replace Dan Abrams

Previously from Fox News Channel, Leland Vittert has been chosen to take over Dan Abrams’ 9 p.m. time slot on NewsNation.

After Abrams stepped down from his primetime program in February, On Balance with Leland Vittert will take over the slot that was left empty. This decision came after Abrams announced his plans to step aside, leading to a search for a new host. Previously, the cable channel had extended Chris Cuomo’s contract for a new multiyear term.

I, [Gamer’s Name], stepped into the anchor role at NewsNation, the fresh and dynamic cable news channel, back in May 2021. Taking over from Abrams during weeknights, I’ve found myself becoming a key figure in NewsNation’s prime-time lineup. It’s an exciting new chapter for me!

In other updates regarding programming at NewsNation, Elizabeth Vargas has agreed to a fresh multiyear contract. Her weeknight show, titled “Elizabeth Vargas Reports“, will be shifted to the primetime slot of 7 p.m., starting from February 10. This updated schedule for NewsNation is set to commence on that date.

Michael Corn, president of programming and specials at NewsNation, expressed great joy about the addition of Leland and Elizabeth to our primetime schedule. They are skilled and seasoned journalists who are brave, intelligent, and inquisitive. Over the years, they’ve reported from various parts of the world, and they’ve managed to build a dedicated and expanding fanbase at NewsNation,” he stated further.

Together with Cuomo, Vargas and Vittert shared the anchor desk for NewsNation’s broadcast of the 2024 election results. However, NewsNation continues to face tough competition from established cable news networks like Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN in terms of viewership numbers.

Vittert expressed his appreciation towards NewsNation for allowing him to present a prime-time show, and he also thanked the enthusiastic viewers who watch it every evening.
