Disneyland Has Found A Magical Way To Help Cast Members Who Have Lost Homes In Southern California Wildfires

Due to the enormous wildfires in Southern California, thousands have been displaced from their homes. Given the immense scale of The Walt Disney Company, it’s not astonishing that numerous affected individuals are actually employees of this corporation. Fortunately, the company, particularly Disneyland Resort, has stepped up to help those in distress.

Individuals who have been displaced from their homes due to necessity or disaster are in search of temporary accommodation. While some have found refuge with loved ones, Disney offers facilities equipped with essential amenities that are proving attractive. Consequently, numerous Disney staff members, whom they refer to as Cast Members, are currently residing at Disneyland.

100 Disney Cast Members Are Staying In Disneyland’s Hotels

As reported by The New York Times, approximately 100 individuals who have been displaced, including the company’s general counsel, are temporarily residing in vacant hotel rooms at Disneyland Resort. Since Disneyland is located quite a distance from Los Angeles, this resort presents no danger and serves as an ideal shelter for those who have had to leave their homes due to some reason.

It might not be as enchanting to wake up at Disneyland instead of home, but it’s hard to think of a better place to start your day. Disneyland’s hotels are truly exceptional – the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the epitome of luxury on the resort premises. The Pixar Place Hotel offers an immersive themed experience, while the Disneyland Hotel remains iconic, even though you can no longer take a Monorail ride from there directly into Disneyland.

After the evacuation orders have been rescinded, Disney will carry on assisting individuals who are unable to go back home. They’re providing up to two months of complimentary fully-furnished accommodations, and Disney’s Employee Relief Fund is distributing funds for necessary household items.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Is Focused On Rebuilding

Disney CEO Bob Iger is reportedly taking a very active role in trying to help out Cast Members in need. In addition to getting his employees housed at DIsneyland, he also opened up the Disney Studio’s wardrobe department, allowing those that need clothing to take some of the lightly used items. Beyond what’s already been announced, it’s said that Iger is also considering the future reconstruction efforts. He’s open to Disney lending a hand in establishing temporary schools, and he even proposed that Walt Disney Imagineering might be useful for planning new community hubs.

Given that the Imagineering team has been working on Disney’s initial Storyiving communities over the past few years, it’s clear they’ve gained valuable insights into residential development. These learnings can undoubtedly be applied effectively when rebuilding the necessary areas.

Disney is determined to help its Cast Members who have been affected by home loss, by ensuring a thorough and long-lasting process of relocation for them, as well as rebuilding the necessary infrastructure.
