Porsche Singapore collaborates with artist Red Hong Yi to unveil “The Red Thread: Past, Present, Future,” a remarkable nine-meter (30-foot) long artwork scheduled for debut at ART SG 2025. As the premier automotive partner for Southeast Asia’s most extensive art fair, Porsche maintains its unique approach of combining art and technology, marking Singapore’s 60th anniversary with this latest artistic endeavor.
The artwork, drawing inspiration from sixty vibrant shades of red found in Porsche’s custom-order paint palette, showcases hues reminiscent of historic Peru Red, traditional Guards Red, and contemporary Carmine Red. These colors serve as a nod to Porsche’s rich heritage of craftsmanship, while also celebrating Singapore’s six decades of independence. Surrounded by reflective surfaces, this installation generates an endless visual illusion, encouraging viewers to ponder the intricate connections between time, self-image, and legacy. Delicately woven into the artwork is a barely noticeable thread resembling the famous Porsche 911, highlighting enduring design principles and continuous development.
As a devoted admirer of Red Hong Yi, I’m thrilled to share her excitement about the partnership with Porsche. In our joint endeavor, we’ve brought to life an artwork that encapsulates the heart of time itself – how our past experiences mold our present and stimulate our visions for the future.
From January 17th to 19th, 2025, individuals visiting ART SG at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre have the opportunity to engage with an installation. Additionally, Porsche Studio Singapore is hosting related events this weekend. These include the presentation of a unique 911 Dakar art car by automotive artist Chris Dunlop, as well as a discussion panel involving both artists.
In simpler terms, Yannick Ott, the Marketing Director of Porsche Asia Pacific, stated that partnering with Red Hong Yi signifies our commitment to innovation and advancement, all the while respecting traditions.
