Samsung Announces New Galaxy S25 Series

Samsung is gearing up for a bustling year and, as expected, unveiled one of its major launches in January. At the Unpacked event held in San Jose, California today, they announced their new Galaxy S25 series of premium smartphones.

Presenting the newly launched Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 – a trio of advanced Android devices leveraging AI to revolutionize user interaction experience. Like other tech giants in 2025, artificial intelligence is at the forefront for Samsung, with the new Galaxy S25 series expanding on the exceptional features from its previous lineup, several of which were driven by the Galaxy AI technology.

The latest smartphones feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a customized high-performance Android chipset developed by Qualcomm especially for Samsung. This tailor-made hardware is designed to work efficiently with Samsung’s AI software on the Galaxy S25 series, providing enhanced on-device processing capabilities. Additionally, the Snapdragon chipset boosts performance in photography and videography, leveraging its Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to power Samsung’s ProVisual Engine.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a 6.9-inch QHD+ screen that refreshes at 120 times per second. It sports an impressive array of five cameras: four rear cameras, consisting of a 50MP ultra-wide lens, a 200MP primary camera, two telephoto lenses (a 50MP one with 5x optical zoom and a 10MP one with 3x optical zoom), and a 12MP front-facing camera. This version offers up to 1TB of storage and comes equipped with 12GB of RAM as a standard feature.

The Samsung Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 models boast a combined total of four cameras: a 10MP ultra-wide, a 50MP wide, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP selfie camera. The Galaxy S25+ sports a larger 6.7-inch QHD+ display, while its counterpart, the Galaxy S25, features a slightly smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ screen. Both devices come equipped with 12GB of RAM, and offer up to 512GB of internal storage, though the Galaxy S25 also offers configurations with 128GB and 256GB storage options.

Samsung is incorporating advanced multi-modal Artificial Intelligence (AI) assistants in all the latest phones unveiled today, making the S25 series Samsung’s most versatile products regarding AI capabilities. Instead of being limited to processing a single type of data, these multi-modal AI agents can handle various types of information.

It’s worth noting that Samsung appears to be venturing beyond the conventional by not limiting its new devices to the traditional smartphone shape, instead using terms like ‘smart helpful friend’ to describe them. In their press release, they refer to the Galaxy S25 series as setting a new standard for AI phones as genuine AI companions and emphasizing that these new products offer the most natural and contextually aware mobile experiences yet. (You can see where this is heading, right?)

The smartphones from the South Korean brand (Samsung), particularly their Galaxy series, are often recognized as the benchmark for Android devices. Notably, the latest models they’ve just unveiled seem to reinforce this reputation. They will come with Android 15 pre-installed, and Samsung guarantees “upgrades to seven generations of operating systems and seven years of security updates.

Beginning today, selected stores are accepting pre-orders for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series. Wider availability is expected by February 7th. The cost differs among models; the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra starts at £1,249 GBP or $1,299 USD, while the Galaxy S25+ begins at £999 GBP and $999 USD, and the Galaxy S25 starts at £799 GBP or $799 USD.

For color choices, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is available in “Titanium Silverblue”, “Titanium Black”, “Titanium Whitesilver”, and “Titanium Grey”. The standard models, both Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+, can be found in “Silver Shadow”, “Navy”, “Icy Blue”, and “Mint” colors.
