Spoilers for XO, Kitty Season 2 lie ahead.
The current state of teen soap TV dramas seems rather grim, but the upcoming return of XO, Kitty in the 2025 schedule is offering a glimmer of optimism. The second season delivered even more intrigue and references to To All the Boys, as character Kitty (Anna Cathcart) navigates another love triangle while exploring her Korean roots and family ties. I’ve already binge-watched the entire season, and at this point, I can’t help but eagerly anticipate additional episodes.
As a cinephile, I devoured this eight-episode series in no time, yet I found myself halting occasionally to ponder Kitty’s thoughts. True to Netflix’s style, the season ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger. However, it’s not just the ending that leaves me yearning for another season; I’m eagerly hoping the series will be renewed for Season 3!
I Need Kitty And Min Ho To Be Endgame
In simpler terms, “XO, Kitty” is a well-known romantic comedy, which means it’s not unexpected that Kitty has multiple admirers. The finale of Season 1 saw Kitty and Dae parting ways, Kitty confessing her feelings for Yuri, and Min Ho declaring his love for her on the flight back home. Initially, I was solidly in Team Yuri, but my views have certainly shifted after watching the first season.
Min Ho significantly improved this season, emerging as a strong contender who captivated both Kitty and the fans. Despite his claim that he was over her, his actions suggest otherwise. He was consistently by Kitty’s side when she faced difficulties – symbolically and literally – and never hesitated to lend a hand during her journey to reconnect with her Great Aunt.
At the conclusion of Season 2, Kitty proposed joining Min Ho for his summer tour with his father and brother. Though Min Ho hasn’t explicitly said yes, it’s evident he won’t reject her. Given my love for romantic comedies, it seems the showrunner is subtly suggesting that Kitty and Min Ho might be destined for each other. I can’t wait to see how their story unfolds!
Lara Jean Needs To Visit Kitty
In contrast to the initial season of “XO, Kitty”, which was a spinoff of the beloved romantic comedy “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”, there were fewer cameos. However, in the second season, popular characters like Peter Kavinsky (played by Noah Centineo) and Margot (Janel Parrish) made appearances, traveling to South Korea for episodes. Despite this, viewers have yet to catch a glimpse of Lara Jean from “TATB”, portrayed by Lana Condor.
From a practical standpoint, it’s understandable that Lara Jean hasn’t managed to visit Kitty due to her being in her final year of college. Yet, it would have added a touch of warmth to see them engage through video calls. So far, we’ve kept up with most of the characters from the TATB world; therefore, it’d be delightful for fans to catch a glimpse of Lara Jean in Season 3 and learn about her recent activities.
Kitty Should Get To Know Her Family Even More
At its core, “XO, Kitty” revolves around the youngest Song-Covey sibling’s quest to rekindle bonds with her late mother and potentially still living family in Korea. Throughout Season 2, significant progress was made towards this goal, culminating in a heartwarming reunion between her grandmother and an estranged aunt.
If the series continues with a third season, I eagerly anticipate deeper family connections for Kitty. Now that the search has concluded, it’s an exciting prospect to watch her delve into her mother and extended family’s history firsthand. It’s not impossible that she might uncover another mystery about her mom, sparking another adventure. After all, anything can happen!
Sadly, as of now, there’s no announcement about a Season 3 renewal. To boost the chances of another season, consider watching the first two seasons on Netflix with an active subscription.
