Pokémon TCG Pocket to introduce trading at the end of this month alongside brand-new expansion

  • Pokémon TCG Pocket has unveiled that the hotly anticipated trading feature is arriving January 29th
  • It’ll also launch alongside a brand-new expansion on January 30th, the next day
  • The Space-Time Smackdown expansion includes fan-favourite Pokémon from the Sinnoh region

If you can hardly contain your excitement about the forthcoming trading function in Pokémon TCG Pocket, here’s some fantastic news: The release date is just around the corner! More specifically, it’s slated to go live on January 29th. And that’s not all – a fresh expansion, titled Space-Time Smackdown, will be unveiled the day after!

If you haven’t heard about it yet, trading here refers to exchanging unique card rarities with friends, just like you would trade in person. You’ll need to utilize hourglasses and tokens for trades, but this new feature seems promising as it aims to enhance the authenticity of the virtual card collection experience, mirroring the classic physical card collector.

In the upcoming expansion of the aptly titled Space-Time Smackdown, which follows closely, some well-loved cards will be incorporated into the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket edition. For the first time, Pokémon originating from the Sinnoh region will appear, with two new digital booster packs featuring legendary Pokémon such as Dialga and Palkia.

Smack in the face

If you don’t mind non-legendary Pokemon, you’ll be thrilled with the arrival of favorites such as Lucario, along with the initial trio from the Sinnoh region: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. You can obtain these cards through both the Wonder Pick feature and conventional booster packs.

There’s no question in my mind that this update will be a success, mainly because it introduces long-awaited Pokémon into the team. Yet, I’ve started hearing some concerns about how trading will function. Fingers crossed that the assurance of ongoing adjustments to that aspect will guarantee everything runs smoothly.
