As the gaming week winds down, I’ve gathered some top-tier tracks for this week’s edition of my personal favorite, Best New Tunes.
This week’s highlights feature Central Cee, Future, Bruno Mars, Sexyy Red, Larry June with 2 Chainz and The Alchemist, Djo, Kacy Hill with 6LACK, Empire of the Sun, Chance the Rapper, and Balming Tiger. Central Cee, Future, and Bruno Mars top the bill, followed by the releases of “CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS,” the music video for “Lost My Dog,” and their collaboration “Fat Juicy & Wet.” Other notable additions include contributions from the aforementioned artists.
Central Cee – CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS
Central Cee unveils his first studio album, titled “CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS.” This 17-track collection boasts collaborations with Young Miko on “Gata,” 21 Savage on “GBP,” Dave on “CRG,” Lil Durk on “Truth In The Lies,” Skepta on “Ten” and Lil Baby on the popular track “BAND4BAND.” CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS was recorded in various locations worldwide over a period of 12 months, showcasing Cench’s remarkable rise to prominence in UK rap.

Future – “Lost My Dog”
In the future, Future revisits his “MIXTAPE PLUTO” project, releasing the music video for “Lost My Dog.” Directed by Henri Alexander Levy, this black-and-white production captures a somber and introspective Future as he grapples with the loss of a friend due to a drug overdose. In keeping with the song’s theme, Future will be starting a fundraising campaign for D.A.R.E. America through his Freewishes Foundation.

Bruno Mars x Sexyy Red – “Fat Juicy & Wet”
Bruno Mars teams up with Sexyy Red for an unanticipated collaboration titled “Fat Juicy & Wet.” The video, jointly directed by Daniel Ramos and Mars, carries a red theme and includes appearances from his recent musical partners, including Lady Gaga and Rosé of BLACKPINK.

Larry June x 2 Chainz x The Alchemist – “Bad Choices”
On the collaborative track titled “Bad Choices,” Larry June teams up with both 2 Chainz and The Alchemist. This song comes complete with a fitting music video that aligns with June’s distinct style, showcasing an array of luxury vehicles.

Kacy Hill x 6LACK – “Time’s Up”
Kacy Hill collaborates with 6LACK on the track titled “Time’s Up,” which they both co-wrote with Ryan Beatty. Speaking about the song, Kacy mentions, “The song ‘Time’s Up’ was something I began in 2019 but didn’t find its final place until recently. After a few months, I reached out to 6LACK, who kindly added his unique touch to the track. It’s incredibly rewarding to breathe new life into an old song!

Chance the Rapper – “Quiet Storm”
Chance the Rapper releases his new song titled “Quiet Storm,” which is inspired by an old radio format popularized by African-American DJs in Washington D.C. during the late 70’s. The track explores topics such as love, authority, and self-identity, creating a story that shifts a private relationship into a broader commentary on the ongoing impact of colonial subjugation.

Empire of the Sun – Ask That God (Deluxe)
In a new development, the band Empire of the Sun has added two songs to the luxury edition of their recently released album, titled “Ask That God“. The additional tracks feature the vocals of Lindsey Buckingham in songs named “Dark Secrets” and “Somebody’s Son”.

Balming Tiger – “Spirit Chaebol”
Balming Tiger has released the video for their song “Spirit Chaebol,” found on their newest EP titled Greatest Hits. The video is helmed by director Kiho Song and created by Azikazin Magic World, a creative team based in Seoul. The clip takes us through a dreamlike, playground-like setting reminiscent of classic children’s programming.

Djo – “Basic Being Basic”
Joe Keery, known for his role in Stranger Things and the musical group Djo, has declared the release of his upcoming album titled The Crux (set for April 4). The album’s first single is “Basic Being Basic,” which he describes as a bold statement aimed at anyone attempting to follow trends.
