Daisy Ridley’s Next Star Wars Movie Is Still A Long Ways Off, But I’m Psyched About The New Talent Coming Aboard For Rey’s Cinematic Return

Over the past five years, Disney+’s Star Wars series have been instrumental in keeping the franchise thriving in a distant galaxy. The latest movie release, The Rise of Skywalker, marked the conclusion of the current film series. Despite this, there’s an abundance of future Star Wars films in different stages of production, one of which will feature Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey. Although that movie is yet to come, I’m thrilled about the skilled individuals who have joined the team behind the scenes.

According to THR, George Nolfi, known for his work on films like “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Ocean’s 12”, will pen the screenplay for a movie titled “New Jedi Order,” which is rumored to be about Rey. Although specific plot details are being kept under wraps, similar to most Star Wars projects, the article mentions that the story unfolds fifteen years after “The Rise of Skywalker”. It’s also stated that in this film, Rey will guide a new generation of Jedi. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, director of “Ms. Marvel”, is still set to direct.

It’s important to mention that Nolfi isn’t the original screenwriter for the Rey movie. Previously, Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were working on it before Obaid-Chinoy was brought on board. After Chinoy became director and Daisy Ridley was confirmed to reprise her role as Rey, Steven Knight from ‘Peaky Blinders’ took over the scripting duties. However, Knight is no longer involved in the Star Wars movie, which has now given Nolfi the opportunity to step in.

More to come…
