Once again, Kim Jones has impressed with his Dior Men’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection. This fashion show took place at the École Militaire during Paris Fashion Week, where guests were welcomed into a fortress-like structure in shades of grey. A grand, illuminated staircase greeted them upon entry. Notable faces such as Robert Pattinson, Kate Moss, and Jay Chou graced the front row, being close friends of the house.
Typical attendees of Dior fashion shows often can’t wait to see what creative twist Jones has in store for the stage setup, as it plays a crucial role in conveying the narrative of his collections. Ever since he joined Dior, the set design has been an essential aspect of his work. In an exclusive interview with TopMob, Jones revealed, “This season, the set reflects our minimalistic approach. I aimed to convey both simplicity and rigor while also suggesting something grand – it reinforces the themes of the collection. For me, the set and the music are always interconnected; they’re inseparable aspects of my creative process.
Jones draws inspiration from Monsieur Dior’s timeless “H Line” originally presented in his Fall 1954 haute couture collection. Each design aimed to create an optical illusion of a prolonged silhouette, with double-breasted formal wear taking on the shape of the letter ‘H’. Jones recognizes that the distinctive graphic and angular qualities of the Ligne H could be adapted for men’s fashion. This season, the theme of transformation pervades the collection, encompassing transitions across time periods as well as the gender transformations of archive pieces from feminine to masculine.
In the opening and closing moments of the show, Jones skillfully blended casual wear with high-end displays to emphasize more elegant, couture-like shapes. The overarching theme of this collection was ethereal grace, conveying an air of simplicity that was both refined and ageless. Drawing inspiration from the archives, the primary embroidery seen throughout the collection was derived from Monsieur Dior’s Spring/Summer 1948 Haute Couture “Pondichéry” look, beautifully recreated in the final pink robe that concluded the show. This collection weaves fashion history, transitioning from the opulence of the 18th century to the streamlined and functional forms of the 19th century. For Dior Men’s FW25 collection, Kim Jones merges contemporary perspectives with archival silhouettes, crafting a timeless and everlasting assortment.
