At Simon Porte Jacquemus’ Spring 2025 fashion show in Paris on Sunday, there was a distinct, uncooked quality to the event. Named “LA CROISIÈRE,” which means “CRUISE” in French, this intimate gathering took place inside Auguste Perret’s historic rue Raynouard apartment, a minimalist Art Deco masterpiece made of concrete and wood. Only 40 guests—Central Cee, Tyla, and Hongjoong among them—were invited to view the runway on mismatched chairs. The models, including Christy Turlington and Adriana Lima, sported looks from the ’50s that were both timeless and effective without being overly complex. Interestingly, the entire event was captured using an iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Jacquemus, famed for grand destination fashion events like his Fall 2024 show in Capri which was held at Casa Malaparte reached by small private boats, expressed that this collection is meant to reveal his authentic self, free from pretense, showcasing merely our outlines within the intimate setting of Perret’s apartment,” he shared.
In the iconic atmosphere, Jacquemus’ newest designs seemed timelessly classic. Double-breasted jackets stood out sharply over rigidly pleated dress pants; minimal coats were belted at the waist, fitting elegantly on top of loose, buttoned trousers, and formal structured coats often clashed with short-shorts. Female ensembles, such as drop-waisted skirts and hourglass dresses, emphasized the human figure in a vintage Hollywood-style glamour, while “naked” gowns, worn by Lima on the runway and Tyla in the front row, took Jacquemus’ baring concept quite literally.
Walking along, there was a new addition to Jacquemus’ continuous collaboration with Nike on display: a modernized version of the “Moon Shoe,” Nike’s first ever sneaker, which made its debut in 1972. The classic design was recreated in a yellowish tone, featuring Jacquemus’ distinctive Waffle sole.
In essence, Jacquemus’ Spring 2025 fashion presentation was deliberately minimalistic yet nostalgic, showcasing a contemporary take on the ’50s modernist style.
