One of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year is Aamir Khan’s “Earth” (Sitaare Zameen Par). This upcoming film is a sequel to the 2007 release and marks Khan’s reunion with Darsheel Safary, almost two decades later. To heighten the anticipation, Khan has recently announced that the movie will hit theaters this Christmas season.
As I celebrate Republic Day 2025, I had the privilege of joining the extraordinary festivities held at the magnificent Statue of Unity in the vibrant state of Gujarat. During this visit, I took the opportunity to share some exciting updates about my upcoming projects with you all.
Recently, while conversing with ANI, I was asked whether any of these new endeavors would be filmed in the captivating state of Gujarat. Intrigued by the question, I gladly shared that the climactic scenes of Sitaare Zameen Par were indeed shot in the enchanting city of Vadodra, Gujarat.

He shared additional details about his upcoming movie, titled “Sitaare Zameen Par.” They’re aiming for a release by the year-end, specifically during Christmas time. It promises to be an enjoyable film with a captivating storyline. Filming for the movie has already commenced.
Apart from discussing other topics, the actor also spoke about his bond with the state and recalled that several of his father’s movies were filmed in Gujarat. He mentioned that as a young child, he would return to this area, and these memories resurfaced during his recent trip. The actor also pointed out noticeable changes in Vadodra, including modern buildings and emphasized the improvement in the road infrastructure particularly.
Khan mentioned that he was approximately 12 years old when he first visited the state for the first time, and since then, many developments have taken place. According to him, Gujarat has had a significant link with filmmaking for an extended period. Recognizing its ‘close tie’ to cinema, culture, and art, Mr. Perfectionist expressed his desire to shoot in that location.
Previously, during a conversation with Deadline, Khan shared that they were busy with post-production and aimed to unveil it around the middle of the year 2025.
Under the direction of R.S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, the movie titled “Sitaare Zameen Par” features performances from Aamir Khan himself, Darsheel Safary, and Genelia Deshmukh in significant roles. This film, inspired by the 2018 Spanish movie “Champions,” was first announced in October 2023.
