Following the release of the trailer for the film “Chhaava” starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, the upcoming period-drama has found itself in a debate. Specifically, a Maharashtra Minister has criticized the makers for depicting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj dancing on-screen, and is advocating for a historical review by experts such as historians and scholars.
During a conversation with ANI, Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant expressed that the film produced by Vicky Kaushal featuring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje dancing needs editing. He suggested showing this movie to historians and scholars first, and if they raise objections, it will not be released.
Additionally, he acknowledged the creative work put forth by those bringing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s legacy to life on screen. However, it is equally important that historical accuracy remains a priority. He went on to say that numerous individuals have voiced their concerns about questionable scenes within the movie.
He expressed that it’s crucial to screen this movie for experts and informed individuals before its release, as any content that could tarnish the Maharaj’s reputation is unacceptable.
Beyond this, Samant additionally penned an extended message on X, expressing delight over the production of a movie centered around the ‘defender of liberty’, as it’s crucial for global awareness about the historical significance of Chhatrapati.
In response to differing viewpoints about the film from various groups, Samant expressed that it would be best for the film’s creators to act swiftly by removing any questionable content. A final decision on whether or not the movie can be released will be made after viewing it; otherwise, its release may be prevented.
