Major League Soccer is relocating its TV programs to Connecticut as a part of an extended partnership for production with IMG.
MLS will create content for MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+, as well as all their studio shows, directly from WWE’s headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. It is important to note that WWE, which will be providing this content, is owned by TKO Group Holdings. In the upcoming months, TKO Group Holdings is expected to finalize its acquisition of IMG.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) plans to introduce fresh content as they shift their production from the studio in East Harlem, New York, to a new centralized broadcasting facility. Previously, MLS created their content within this Manhattan-based studio space.
WWE constructed its “Production Studios at WWE” within their recently relocated headquarters, aiming to share this setup with other media companies. Notably, they also create their own television content right from this newly established facility.
Seth Bacon, MLS’s media executive vice president, has praised the launch of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Fans worldwide can now access all MLS games and content, he noted. With the growing enthusiasm for the league, we are delighted to expand our collaboration with IMG to enhance production quality, offer novel viewing options, and advance the sports broadcast industry.
In collaboration with MLS, Apple, and other partners, IMG’s executive vice president of studios, Barney Francis, stated that we have raised the bar for MLS viewing, ushering in a new era of captivating and immersive content for football enthusiasts worldwide. Looking ahead, we aim to elevate this even further by utilizing advanced technology and creativity, fueled by our innovative new base, Studios at WWE, and IMG’s unparalleled production expertise and resources.
Stamford serves as a major center for sports broadcasting outside the WWE, hosting NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, and the studios for the New York Yankees’ YES Network. ESPN, another significant player in sports media, is headquartered in Connecticut, with many of its employees residing in the vicinity.
