Finn Wolfhard, best known for his role as Mike Wheeler in Netflix’s Stranger Things, has given insights into the emotional journey of filming the show’s finale. With production recently concluding on the series’ last episodes, Wolfhard reminisced about some precious moments: “It was undeniably emotional, of course.
At present, Wolfhard is showcasing his newest film, “The Legend of Ochi,” at the Sundance Film Festival. During an interview with Variety, he took a moment to discuss the production status of the “Stranger Things” finale that remains undated:
The experience was deeply emotional, as we were saying goodbye to the past decade of my life. Similarly, the Duffer Brothers embarked on this project when they were thirty and are now forty, making this journey significant for them too. We’ve all been through a long and shared adventure together. My entire childhood seemed to be encapsulated in it. It was like the poignant moment from Toy Story 3 when you leave your toys behind – it was truly unique and special.
Apart from Wolfhard, he also conveyed his enthusiasm about wrapping up a presumably hectic phase, during which he was required to complete work on Stranger Things while juggling a few other significant productions. Last year, he appeared in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and Saturday Night, but none had as packed a schedule as the Netflix series did.
2021 was quite an epic journey for us, as we embarked on a year-long filming spree, reminiscent of the Lord of the Rings saga. It was an incredible and highly intense experience that seemed to be perfectly concluded. Promoting The Legend of Ochi now is like stepping into post-graduation life for me. I’m brimming with excitement about what lies ahead!
In the thrilling conclusion of “Stranger Things,” the actor will portray Mike one more time, a role that has been eagerly awaited by fans. Prior to this fantasy-horror gem, Wolfhard had small parts in shows like “The 100” and “Supernatural.” However, landing a role in Netflix’s original production was a career turning point for him. First airing in 2016, “Stranger Things” resonated deeply with audiences, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the ’80s among its viewers who either lived through or admire that era. It’s fair to say that this series has left an indelible mark on television history.
‘Stranger Things’ Season 5: What We Know So Far
Although an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, curious fans have delved into the depths of the internet to try and uncover Netflix’s upcoming schedule. What we do know is that in 2025, the series finale will be released. In the meantime, during the first quarter, Netflix has decided to give Squid Game Season 3 and Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 a bit of space to breathe. Consequently, three of Netflix’s most popular TV shows are expected to conclude in 2025.
In the final act of my beloved show, Stranger Things, I eagerly anticipate eight episodes that seem to stretch like full-length movies, or even more. The suspense is thick as I ponder if Netflix will serve up one episode weekly, or if the grand finale will be divided into two parts for a double dose of excitement.
So far, it’s been confirmed that every significant character from past seasons will reappear, provided they didn’t meet their end. Season 5 will introduce new characters, including one portrayed by the renowned actress Linda Hamilton from “Terminator”. As for the remaining details, we’re on tenterhooks to learn if Eddie Munson, our favorite character, might make a brief appearance in the Upside Down during the final season.
