Obsessed with ‘Paradise’: Episode 1 Drops Early on Hulu & Disney+

We don’t spend a lot of time watching TV. Instead, we tend to wait for opinions about shows before deciding to watch them, since we’ve found ourselves investing time in shows that develop slowly or never reach a satisfying conclusion. That’s why we haven’t started “Severance” yet (but with the positive feedback on Season 2, it’s moved up our Must Watch list), and we missed out on shows like “Only Murders in the Building”, “Hacks”, “Shogun”, and the fantastic “The Bear”. We ended up watching “The Bear” over a weekend before Season 3 was released, and it’s amazing! However, due to work commitments, I had to take a look at Dan Fogelman’s new series “Paradise”, available on Hulu. Guess what? It has become my latest obsession… and you can join me in that obsession right now!

In the series titled “Paradise,” Dan Fogelman joins forces once more with Sterling K. Brown, his esteemed actor from “This is Us.” This new project presents a unique exploration that shares the same intensity, emotional depth, and character-focus as its predecessor. Brown portrays Xavier Collins, the top Secret Service agent for the U.S. President Cal Bradford (James Marsden). However, in the premiere episode of “Paradise,” titled “Wildcat Is Down,” it is revealed that President Bradford has been assassinated within the Oval Office. The responsibility falls on Collins to identify the potential culprit behind this seemingly impossible crime.

Good news! The series titled “Paradise” was initially scheduled to premiere its first three episodes on Tuesday, January 28th. However, due to the incredibly positive early responses, the first episode has already been made available on both Hulu and Disney+. So, if you have a subscription with either platform, you can start watching it right away! I highly recommend you to tune in as soon as convenient, since “Paradise” is currently the top show streaming, and the quality only improves as the season progresses.

Before penning this response, I took another look at Episode 1 of “Paradise” to avoid spoilers. Similar to “This Is Us”, the narrative of “Paradise” jumps through time to depict various stages in the lives of its characters. For instance, President Cal Bradford, who is assassinated in the opening scene, has a backstory that unfolds throughout the series, while Marsden delivers an engaging performance in this exploration. Much like “This Is Us”, you become invested in the story due to the rapid development of affection for the characters. Dan Fogelman penned Episode 1 and co-wrote Episode 2, with a significant emphasis on the relationship between Collins and Bradford. However, allow me to assure you that Episode 1 is just the beginning; there’s much more to uncover when Episodes 2 and 3 premiere on January 28.

It’s challenging to express my affection for “Paradise” without revealing particulars, so let me put it this way: The captivating eight-episode series maintains its momentum through exceptional writing and never lets go of a gripping premise. Notably, Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden deliver career-defining performances that will astound you as the season unfolds, with unexpected transformations that keep viewers on their toes. Now, I can’t help but hint at something exciting: “Paradise” Episode 7, titled “The Day,” might just be one of the most remarkable episodes of television I have ever witnessed.

It’s that good.

If you currently subscribe to Hulu or Disney+, don’t miss out on the first episode of “Paradise“. Jump right into this series now, as it’s bound to be a hot topic in just a few weeks. That’s when its captivating storyline will really begin to unravel.
