On February 7th, IMAX officially announces the return of the movie “Parasite” to the big screen. The timing is significant because it coincides with the fifth anniversary of “Parasite” winning multiple Oscars, such as Best Picture and Best Director for Joon-ho. Additionally, this re-release happens just a few days before his upcoming film, “Mickey 17,” has its London premiere on February 13th.
Under the direction of Joon-ho, who collaborated with Han Jin-won on the script, the movie titled “Parasite” tells the story of a struggling family that finds themselves in a precarious situation when they cross paths with a wealthy family. The consequences are disastrous for all involved. The film features an impressive cast including Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Jang Hye-jin, Park Myung-hoon, and Lee Jung-eun. The story is derived from a play that Joon-ho started writing in 2013 and later transformed into a film. Currently, it boasts an outstanding 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Five years ago, the movie “Parasite” made history during awards season. It quickly gained favor in various prominent categories and fulfilled those expectations at numerous ceremonies.
