Marvel Snap Devs have Something for Players After Temporary TikTok Ban

Last week, the prohibition on TikTok didn’t only impact TikTok itself, but also other applications belonging to ByteDance. Among these affected apps, a surprising one was the removal of the Marvel Snap game.

Despite Marvel Snap being operational once more, the developers at Second Dinner are making amends for the brief downtime by offering compensation to both affected players who were banned as well as those who weren’t actively playing during this period.

Marvel Snap’s Player Compensation

As reported by VGC, the rewards or payment for playing Marvel Snap will be determined based on each player’s progress level and geographical location.

During the outage, some chose to use a VPN for play, but rest assured, all players, including those who did so, will still be entitled to the same compensation. Here’s a breakdown of what players can anticipate based on their in-game status:

1. Regular Players: Compensation TBD (To Be Determined)
2. Premium Players: Compensation TBD + Exclusive In-Game Items
3. Founders: Compensation TBD + Exclusive In-Game Items + Special Founder Title
4. Early Access Players: Compensation TBD + Exclusive In-Game Items + Special Early Access Title

Please note that the specifics of the compensation have yet to be announced, but all players will receive something commensurate with their status in the game.

Although there’s not a significant difference between the two packages, it appears that the U.S.-based package includes a larger number of Random Boosters compared to its counterpart from outside the U.S.

On the Hunt for a New Publisher

It appears that developers of Marvel Snap were unaware that their app would be impacted by the ban, as they had primarily focused on TikTok. However, they are currently seeking a new publisher in the US market because the TikTok ban is temporary and may not be lifted within the stated timeframe.

To date, it appears that no one is interested in Marvel Snap as a publishing venture. Nevertheless, aside from Marvel Rivals, the card game known as Snap has shown to be highly successful and continues to receive only positive feedback from both players and reviewers.

Although Snap might not share the same audience as your mentioned competitors, it’s been praised for its sophisticated game design and engaging game mechanics. Moreover, Snap showcases various Marvel characters, even some lesser-known ones, and offers cards featuring different artists’ interpretations of the same character, with some collaborating officially with Marvel Comics.
