Rahul Bhat’s portrayal as DSP Tomar in Vikramaditya Motwane’s web series Black Warrant has been met with appreciation by both critics and viewers. In a recent interview, Rahul talked about the positive feedback on his acting, his method for picking character-focused roles, and other topics. The actor also commented on the glamorization of infamous figure Charles Sobhraj, stating, “Such questions should be posed to those responsible for its production.
In a conversation regarding Black Warrant, Rahul Bhat denied claims that the characters Charles Sobhraj and Billa-Ranga were glamorized. He admitted he wasn’t sure and suggested directing such questions towards the show’s creators. Rahul added that as actors, it is their job to play their roles, not to construct the story world.
Speaking about his ongoing activities, Rahul expressed that he’s recently chosen to handle a smaller number of tasks. However, he now believes it’s appropriate to take on more work. He also disclosed that he’s looking over several scripts at present, showing an inclination towards both online streaming platforms (OTT) and traditional theater screenings.
Rahul plans to combine both commercial success and artistic expression in his filmmaking, striving to satisfy the tastes of viewers while remaining faithful to his own creative goals.
The actor shared that the audience’s response to Black Warrant was far more than he could have ever anticipated, leaving him feeling overpowered.
He acknowledged that though he felt the project was moving along the correct path, he didn’t expect such an exceptional reaction, given that prison dramas aren’t common in India, which makes the topic quite distinctive.
After taking on the lead role in Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy, a film praised at the Cannes Film Festival last year, he acknowledged this change in his situation. He pointed out that the reaction, particularly following Black Warrant, has been quite exceptional. Although the Cannes recognition was moving, it was the audience responses at events like MAMI and Kolkata that made a lasting impression.
Additionally, he elaborated on how the triumph of Black Warrant has offered him a more profound sense of what it means to achieve success. This realization has rejuvenated his spirit and fueled his ambition. The performer made clear his resolve to break new ground and elevate his craft to greater heights.
